Wine? Atmosphere? This Place is a Winner!
What a wonderful day and place to relax. So nice! The property is spread out and set up to allow you to get the most out of your time while you are here. Shady Lane Cellars was our third stop on our impromptu Suttons Bay wine tour today. Nothing short of impressive. There was indoor and outdoor seating available. The day was beautiful, so we decided to sit outside and listen to the guy singing and playing guitar. Atmosphere? This place has it! Do you want to treat a family member or a friend? Bring them here. You want to show an employee you care? Bring them here. Stopping here and enjoying all of what Shady Lane Cellars has to offer is most certainly a winner in our book! Sláinte!

    Beautiful setting
We found this winery last fall while biking in the trail. Great place for a break. This is a beautiful setting. The staff are very helpful and friendly. We came back up this spring and enjoyed it just as well. Nice patio with fire pits. We will be back!
Thank you! It is always fun to experience our setting in different seasons!

    LOVELY WINERY
We went here for a tasting and then went back later to listen to Kyle Brown. Such an awesome musician. He sang Simple Man and Three Little Birds for me. So talented. The wine was good too. Had the Coopdeluc. Bill was very kind and so were all the other employees. Only wish they would sell a bottle to share as it gets rather expensive by the glass when we drink the same wine. Would go back.
Hello! Thank you for the nice review! We are so happy you enjoyed your time at Shady Lane Cellars! Coop de Blanc is a delicious summer wine.

Don’t Go Past this Shady Lane…
We stopped here during our e-bike ride from Suttons Bay to Traverse City on recommendations from everyone we talked to. Beautiful country setting with comfy seating and welcoming atmosphere. Live entertainment and friendly service. Perfect wine flights and berry slush! A “must go” destination!

Horrible experience. Sorry to bother you with our business. My wife and I were looking for a Winery to check out. We did our first last year and bought lots of goodies. We saw a sign on the main road a few miles away and drove to the place. A younger blonde girl "greeted us"; was very rude to us. It was obvious we were not welcome. We we surely would have bought at least 2 bottles of wine. Fast forward, a decent guy did serve us. We were not offered seconds; nor invited inside to where they store likely really makes their money - selling wine. So we left. It also appeared beneath this arrogant hostess to wipe the rain off the chairs for their "guests". With employees like that, who needs competition to take away from the bottom line ($).

We will go back to the awesome FRIENDLY, INVITING winery in Suttons Bay next year and spent our money on wine and such there instead.

What happened to this winery??? This used to be our favorite winery to visit on our twice a year visits to the area. The surly attitudes of each employee we encountered made us leave without even buying a bottle of wine to go. We wanted a wine list and were told they are not available. They suggested we pull it up on our phones. We walked inside the store and were glared at as if we walked in without clothes on. Looking at the wines inside nothing was priced at all. My husband and I agree that we will never go back nor will we pick up a bottle of Shady Lane here where we live.

Visited Shady Lane Cellars on Saturdays (10/24) for the first time with a group of girls. We made reservations and this was our last stop for our wine tour of the Leelanau Peninsula. Upon our arrival, we were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful location, however we soon found out that the scenery was the only thing we would enjoy during our visit. The staff were rude, unaccommidating and extremely disorganized. Flights were ordered at the outdoor bar where the glasses were labeled with abbreviations for the varietal of wine. This sounds like a great idea, but they failed to take names or identify any way of whom each flight should be delivered. As a result, several of the women in my party did not receive the correct wines. The staff members were much more concerned with enforcing social.distancing guidelines rather than providing even a modicum of decent customer service. This visit was our first and also our last to Shady Lane Cellars. Absolutely horrible! Drop the attitudes and learn how to do your jobs.

We were on a road trip in Michigan and chose Shady Lane Cellars as my wine tasting experience. I was not disappointed. What a wonderful choice for wine tasting. The outdoor patio atmosphere of the wine tasting combined with the friendly and knowledgeable staff made our short time a rewarding experience. The wines were excellent and I brought 2 bottles home with me. My husband was my designated driver and he was able to have a glass of apple cider while I had my wine tasting. It was a win-win.
Shady Lane Cellars is a must-stop if you are traveling in the Leelanau Peninsula winery country. Wine, atmosphere, friendliness of staff and relaxation are are top notch.

I was nervous to stop at this winery because of all the recent bad reviews. Our server was nothing but friendly and the wine was pretty good. We didn’t buy anything to take home, but we would probably return the next time we’re in the area.
