Stopped by this winery on a recent visit to Traverse City. The view of the grape fields as we drove in to the farm was breathtaking. We passed a beautiful building which I think was a place to stay and there is even a small café on site. But we were there for wine tasting and found the tasting to... More

During our latest road trip up and around Traverse City, we stopped at Black Star Farms for a wine tasting. My wife likes Black Star wines, so when we saw the signs we had to go. It's a beautiful setting with rolling hills, farm pens, and a nice looking B&B. It wasn't too crowded at the tasting room, and we... More

The place is very nice and the aesthetic search is somehow successful. The possibility to have lunch / dinner is also nice. Their wines however are mediocre and their after-dinners really too young. Why when you try to make a calvados you only age it 2 years in barrels instead of at least 5?? 😡

We started out or day here as a couples trip. The ladies opted for wine, the gentlemen for spirits. Our pourer was very knowledgeable but did make one snarky comment about another winery - outside of that I'd highly recommend.

This is just a beautiful vineyard. Was very pleased at the fact that they offered wines and spirits! They also had beautiful hand pay wine glasses! Rare, unique finds!

My husband and I spent a rainy afternoon tasting wines and spirits at the Suttons Bay location. It was not crowded when we arrived on a weekday afternoon. Tastings are $7 for 5 wines, $5 for 2 spirits, and the ice wine is $5 for a tasting. You can take home the cute stemless tasting glasses. The service was impeccable and... More

Picturesque: rolling green hills, horse stables, Inn & Wine tasting. It doesn't get any better than this. We visited 3 wineries on this trip & this was easily our favorite (even though another winery had nice water views). The horses made up for that; they have several. Kevin, our server, was very friendly & knowledgeable. We were there the week... More

Went wine tasting with the family. Black Star was on of the highlights of the tour. The views in and round the winery are beautiful. Service was nice and prompt, the place was packed so there was a bit of a wait. Overall the place could be hard to find if you don't know where your going so use GPS.... More

We took our daughter here for her first wine tasting. It is not full blown tourist season yet, so it wasn't crowded. Friendly helpful server. Lots of great wines and brandies!

My husband and I visited for a wine tasting. We enjoyed the products and the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Left with a few bottles of rose.
