Beautiful location on the Leelanau peninsula not far from Traverse City. There is wine tasting for those so inclined and farm animals for the children (and adults) to enjoy. We especially enjoyed San Remo (one of the horses). He's a big gentle giant who let us pet him and get pictures. They did have food available to feed the goats,... More

We love the farm and our kids love to feed the animals whenever we visit. The cafe that serves dinner is very nice with great selection of wines. The first time we came last summer, we loved the wine, pizza for kids and cheese board. This past trip in August we came for dinner and felt they were a bit... More

The first thing you see upon driving in to Black Star Farms is fows of concentric vine rows cascading down a verdant hillside. That really set the tone for the experience to come. We sampled some wines from the knowledgeable staff, and my wife bought bottles of the ones she loved. Of course, we bought new stemware too. A grateful... More

Pleasant facilities and grounds with lots to see. You have to buy your glass, but the samples are generous and the staff is knowledgable. Lots of god red and white wines and some interesting spirits.

We visited 4 wineries on this trip. Black Star was the best of them. Service was good, Purchased some Pinot Gris, the group, which several are knowledgeable wine people, liked it.

Stopped by this winery on a recent visit to Traverse City. The view of the grape fields as we drove in to the farm was breathtaking. We passed a beautiful building which I think was a place to stay and there is even a small café on site. But we were there for wine tasting and found the tasting to... More

During our latest road trip up and around Traverse City, we stopped at Black Star Farms for a wine tasting. My wife likes Black Star wines, so when we saw the signs we had to go. It's a beautiful setting with rolling hills, farm pens, and a nice looking B&B. It wasn't too crowded at the tasting room, and we... More

The place is very nice and the aesthetic search is somehow successful. The possibility to have lunch / dinner is also nice. Their wines however are mediocre and their after-dinners really too young. Why when you try to make a calvados you only age it 2 years in barrels instead of at least 5?? 😡
