We were on a carnival cruise (Legend) and one of the art reps convinced us to come to the art auction early and she would walk us around some of the art. We ended up going and did exactly that we then stayed for the auction and bought a piece of art a Fazzino. While doing the paperwork we ended up buying 2 other pieces a Peter Max and a Wyland we liked. Everything was explained in detail. It helps that we knew what we were buying. Everything was received on time and there was an issue with the framing of the Peter Max that we purchased. Customer service was not an issue. I was given the option of having a frame shipped to me and a payment to have a local shop re frame the piece or they would shup it back and repair the framing and return it to me. I opted to send it back. I see a lot of bad reviews but i have nothing but good things to say about our experience. I

I’ve been to many of their auctions on cruise ships and have even purchased a few pieces of artwork that I really loved/love. However, their hyping of the purchase process and constant high pressure by the salespeople is a big turn off. Before and During the auction, they will come up to you many times to ask the same questions over and over. Are you looking for something particular? How do you like this or that artwork? Are you interested in placing any pre-bids? How do you like this artist?
They hype up perceived “bargains” with mystery artwork and keep lowering the price or the art bundle to lure potential buyers in. I don’t know about you, but I think showing the back of an artwork with a perceived amazing price and then “turning it around “ so you can actually see it to get a “wow” or other reaction is ridiculous. Many pieces are just prints. If you want quality art, I would try to buy original or limited series. Otherwise , you are paying for hype and framing.

Interesting and educational appreciation of art during cruise at the numerous art auctions held during our 15 day cruise. The art associates very helpful and hard working, to their credit. However, some would feel the work is being pushed onto the prospective buyer and one is not just being guided to make a great choice. I recommend attending a couple auctions prior to even considering a purchase just to get educated on what is available, then on your own time decide without undo influence if one can afford the art and most importantly like the art! We purchased numerous works that have begun to arrive home, every one in excellent shape and the included frames wonderful. A note of caution, in most homes the framed work is much larger than you envision onboard!
We are also very pleased in how well the pictures are packaged!!

Do not trust delivery time. 12 week promise. 24 weeks later, nothing, Contacting them they said they had not even received the art from the studio.

Shipping also a nightmare. One piece that actually was shipped, They sent no tracking info to me or my info to Fedex so they did not notify me either. I was out of town when they tried to deliver it and only found out when I got back. They are saying I have to pay a fee for another delivery or to pick it up in person (Too big to fit in my car).

Any art you find from Park West, you can find from other reputable dealers at equivalent prices and probably better customer service.

I have had a HORRIBLE experience with Park West gallery, through a Carnival Cruise. I was pushed and coaxed to buy overpriced art because they knew I was a first time buyer and I actually believed them. They had things around that said there was a 50 day cancellation guarantee but it didn’t apply to my particular agreement. It was so dizzying and I called them immediately the next morning once they were open and tried to cancel and say I would pay a cancellation fee, they can keep the free art I won pressuring me to buy more after and they would not entertain the idea and that is all I am asking for please I do not even want these pieces in my house because of the horrible taste this “gallery” has left in my mouth. They take advantage of cruise goers who don’t have wifi and common swindler tactics like starting with ridiculous prices to make you think you are getting a deal. And they refer to giclee works as originals to get you to think that this bad decision is worth it. I’m out $700 because of them and I am furious.

Park West is very deceitful and when you catch them lying they laugh it off. My last experience was purchasing art on a princess cruise ( Sky Princess) in Jan of this year.
My purchase was not really based on any auction but based on talking to the art Director. To further explain .
I received a call the night before my departure at 9:30 PM from the Art Director stating he wanted to make a deal with me on various art I had either seen in the galley or at a auction so I took the bait and met with him at 10:00 .
After meeting with him I did purchase several pcs of art with the understanding that I would be able to pay it off at 0% interest for 3 years on the Park West Art Card.
The next ( and assigned credit card) in place of the proper means of payment ( as I investigated I was actually charged twice) . Anyway After weeks of attempting to correct this incident the Charge/Hold was finally taken off my credit card but the art director had somehow received a copy of my personal ship portfolio ( obviously against the law ) and when I brought to Amanda ( supervisor in customer service ) she stated that her Art Directors have the authority to see customer ship portfolios. I was also just given a 12 no cost purchase in place of the 36months I was promised as a condition of my purchase. Park West has a form you must sign at the time of the purchase where the customer acknowledges the term of the no cost financing and it was a form that I was never presented. Amanda's position was since the form was not signed by either party the terms go back to what's is on the Park West card. So obviously its the customers responsibility to know that they are responsible for signing a form. One pc of art I purchased was not even available and the artist apparently does the artwork as the receive orders so the sane situation as other people have noted , I have also had all types of issues with Fed Ex delivery and they stated they would be happy to resolve the issue with be but that Park West had to issue the complaint since they are the customer. Park West refused to do this and offered me a small token to attempt to appease me. I have still not received that as well. You would need to be crazy to believe anything they tell you and as far as their auctions keep in mind the Art galley employees are on commission and they will do and say anything to make a sale

BUYER BEWARE as art does not arrive as promised. We purchased a piece in December of 2021 on a Princess ship, and the contract reads "allow up to six weeks for delivery". More than 14 weeks after my credit card was charged, the art is "still in processing". I have spoken to PWG two times now, with no resolution nor promise when it will be ready or shipped. I asked for a refund as PWG has not lived up to their side of the contract. Nope. Read your contract carefully as it does not allow any court action, only 'non-binding arbitration". We cruise about four times a year but will never purchase from these people again. I feel it was a scam.

This review is specifically aimed at UK buyers.
By definition for the UK buyer they do not sell originals.
The retail price they say the painting is worth cannot be justified.
They cleverly use a box full of sales techniques to get you to part with the money.
If you still decide to go ahead then there are problems that if the lead time is not met or the picture is damaged getting a resolution could be very difficult.
Remember that the exchange rate at the moment is very very poor

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT buy art on a cruise ship. If you are going to buy art, do so at home, after proper research, and buy from a reputable auctioneer / art dealer…. Park West and the cruise lines rely upon your “holiday spirit” to part you with your money in any way they can. They claim that items are “originals” but their definition of original is pretty sketchy. But from these people if you want o pay over the odds, but please read the other reviews and also their terms & conditions which prevent you taking legal action, before parting with any money.

I was on an Alaska cruise aboard the Grand Princess earlier this month. The art gallery, run by Park West, invited me (as well as many other passengers) to guess the weight of a sculpture, saying whoever guessed closest would win a valuable prize. I had the closest guess, and they set up an appointment to select my prize. They brought out five prints - none were very attractive, but the least objectionable was a seascape, so I picked it. Then they asked for my credit card, to charge $45 to ship a copy of the print to me. This was just the print, rollec up in a mailing tube. I asked why I couldn't take the one they were showing me, but they said it was not available. I told them I was not going to pay anything for a "prize", and that what they were trying to do was illegal, and left.
