The staff were congenial, polite, and informative. The 23' Sea Ray was dated but maintained-engine, hull and handling were up to par.
The craft needed some TLC in the form of screws, snaps, and hinges. PFDs were sufficient but we were lacking a fire extinguisher. Nothing to prevent a decent day on the water but should be mentioned.
The price was fair and the time and experience was worth it.

We rented 2 golf carts and a 4-hour pontoon rental during our September family get away. Staff and experience for both was perfect. My family and I have been coming to South Haven for years and the golf carts and our time on the river made our vacation special. Highly recommended

Pontoon was clean but a little dated. Unfortunately, they told us that the people who rented the boat just before us broke the ladder. It was extremely hard to get back onto the boat after swimming. I feel a discount for the inconvenience should have been given but was not. Other than that, we had a good time.

Our experience with Blue Water Boat Rentals left a lot to be desired. Upon arrival, our boat was broken in multiple places—there was no canopy (meaning we had no coverage from the sun the entire time) nor was there any way to tie the tube to the boat itself. The young women who assisted us were uninformed, rude, and unaccommodating. Plus, only after 4 requests did they bring us life vests for our children.
We enjoyed both the river and the lake, though we wish someone would have told us not to take a pontoon out when the lake was so choppy! Proved to be an exciting ride not for the faint of heart.
Upon return, we told the cashier about our issues and he didn't care at all.
We do not recommend Blue Water Boat Rental, and will definitely not be using them again.

BEWARE! Even though our overall experience on the 2 boats we rented was fun, we are continuing to have numerous issues with the business. We rented a pontoon and discovered once we were anchored that the swim ladder was missing and a huge section of the siding wasn’t screwed down. Ragged metal was hanging off the pontoon so everyone ended up with cuts and bruises trying to get back up.
Once we got back to the marina, the dock girls told us the boat has been crashed a few days ago and the manager was suppose to have fixed it. Once we talked to the manager (owner?) he threw the girls under the bus and said they never told him the ladder had been broken. After a few minutes of back and forth, we agreed on some compensation.
However, the next day I saw my credit card statement and saw we were actually charged an additional $63 with no explanation. I’ve been leaving emails and voicemails to try and resolve this. I talked to one employee yesterday who said the charge was for fuel. HOWEVER, we fueled both boats on the way back in and have a receipt to prove it. Nobody is returning calls or emails and their voicemail is now full so you can’t leave any messages.
Highly disappointed and will not be giving them future business based on this.

We rented a golf cart last minute from these guys and the service was amazing! Very friendly helping people that were a pleasure to work with! We loved having the golf cart in south haven it was so convenient and easy to get around town on. The kids loved having it as well! We needed a longer extension cord to plug ours in and they were so helpful and just dropped one off at our rental without me even asking. Would definitely recommend working with these guys on any rental.

We rented a Golf Cart for the day last minute. Amanda was great to work with as she accommodated our shorter schedule. They dropped off the cart and picked it up which was so convenient! Cart was in great shape and so much fun to have and see the whole town, while making quick stops with 3 little kiddos. Will definitely be using them again when we come back! Thank you!

We rented a speed boat to take our teenagers out on the lake for a couple of hours. We had some trouble finding the location, but they called us to check in and even moved our reservation time so we wouldn’t miss out on any of our time. They were very helpful and knowledgeable. We would definitely recommend them and we will use them again in the future!

We rented the 20' Larson for two people. Everyone who worked there was friendly and professional. It was easy to call and make a reservation. The boat was clean and worked well. We had the boat for a couple of hours and that was enough time to make our way out to Lake Michigan and drive up and down the shoreline. We hooked up our own music and enjoyed a couple adult beverages on sunny day.

I rented a 20' Larson speed boat from black river boat rentals over the 4th of July with my two teenage kids and I couldn't have been happier. Anthony and tabatha were great. They answered all my texts and emails prior to coming to south haven, Check in was simple and Anthony did a great job going over the boat with us before we headed out. The 20' Larson was perfect for the three of us. Cost was very reasonable at $115 per hour for this certain boat.
I would and will rent from black river boat rentals again. My kids loved our day on the lake.
