We went to Overhiser Orchards to pick peaches, but while we were there, we were also able to pick pears, blueberries and sunflowers. It's not often that you can pick multiple fruits at the same time. The family staff was extremely friendly and helpful in telling us how and where to pick, how to get the ripest fruits and in what order we should plan our visit. They have regular tractor-drawn wagons that take you out and pick you up from the various locations on the property. We also felt the prices were very reasonable. Tip: If you pick peaches, try not to stack them too high in your bushel or in the car as they are fragile and will bruise. As a treat when we were done, we got fresh lemonade and delicious donuts to go. Highly recommend!

I visited in mid-July to pick sour cherries. The orchards are well-kept, with good diverse plant cover, but it's mowed enough to walk around. The trees were groaning under the weight of all those gorgeous cherries!

They supply the pails and bags - all you have to do is fill them. It took me about an hour and a half to fill two pails, but I took my time because it was such a beautiful day. The fruit is in great shape. For 30 cents more per pound, they will pit the cherries for you too, but allow extra time. I was one of the last to start and last to finish, so I had to wait an hour. They have bottled water sale if you forget yours, and fruit rollups if the kids are desperate. There are porta-johns on site. They had some of the first peaches of the season. They also have a small fruit stand in the main building. Yesterday they carried blueberries, raspberries, peaches, sweet cherries, and a few sour cherries. There were also some vegetables available.

This would make a great outing for families. Even young kids can pick - or run up and down the rows when they get tired of picking. The price per pound is very reasonable, $1.05 per pound, pitted (75 cents per pound if you pit your own). Bring a cooler and your own water, and bring some Wet Wipes for your hands and arms when you're done!

Kim and her family were so helpful and accommodating. Another orchard close by recommend we stop by Overhiser for some peaches. We were very surprised that they also had a small petting farm where my daughters (age 2 & 6) could feed the animals. After we visited with the animals we were picked up on a cart and brought to a part of the orchard to pick peaches which felt like a private tour. The peaches were good but there apple cider was soooo YUMMY!! We made an appointment to come back the next day and go fishing in their private pond/lake and boys in the family were so helpful and we caught a lot of fish. What a great experience!!

We love coming up to the Overhiser Orchard from the Chicago area. The apples are perfect and never been less! The mutsu apples last from October to February.... The other apples don't last as long as we eat them every day..... delicious for the tart and sweet taste .... for fresh and baking. We love the Overhiser family! They are stunning and thank you for the gift of picking in your orchard of many varieties of apples in October. Joan and Paul

We went to the orchard to go cherry picking and had a great afternoon. The woman at the cherry trees was very nice and she told us to make sure we tried the cherries as we went since there are a lot of different kinds. They have neat ladders that are easy to move around. My daughter had a great time and the cherries were delicious! The price was very good, too.

We stayed in Michigan City and we were looking for day trip activities. The farm is about 70 minutes from there so we decided to go pick fruit. We picked peaches, apricots, and cherries. There are some farm animals and the kids got to feed the cow so it was a good time for all.

We came here in Sept--so it was apple season. We were able to pick our own apples and taste cider! There is a small petting zoo so they enjoyed it. (Alpacas, goats, ducks, chickens, and geese). We were able to pick pumpkins as well. A very nice affordable orchard experience!

Late season peaches and exceptional honey crisp apples make this an easy you-pick orchard. The farmhands will even ride you out to the orchards if needed.
