The campground is about 120 miles from Chicago and all the ads say that it is a 2 hour drive. Not true. It depends on the traffic going under Chicago. We were passing under Chicago at noon on a Friday and it took us 4...More

The beach seems quite long. It's a mix of small rocks, sand and sticks, while the water has lots of rocks, rather than sand. There's plenty of parking. The park office is not exactly well marked, and is necessary for a park pass.

We've been coming to Van Buren State Park for years and yesterday we went I was so shocked that most of it has eroded away. They dumped tons of large rocks on the beach a couple years ago to try to save it but even...More

We are first time visitors to this park and it won't be the last. Beach was very nice, beautiful for a walk, great restrooms and MUCH more to explore the next visit when there is more time to explore.

We hit this beach with our group and it was very crowded. The beach was covered in rocks and sticks and you could barely walk on it without shoes. I go to South Beach or North Beach over this anytime. It was cool though to...More

Nice park but a little cramped. Sites are pretty close together but otherwise pretty nice. Other reviewers complained about the restrooms and showers being dirty but we found them to be clean enough. My wife said her shower was the best camping shower she has...More

I'm not positive, but since they just started renting bicycles last summer it is possible. However, we are in our January thaw right now and our snow is diminishing in the SW part of the lower state.
