It was an amazing experience to discover wine form Puglia and the Numen just became one of my favourite chardonnays.
Many thanks to Filomena with her extensive knowledge and allowing us to try some other wines they produced. The wines were just exceptional. I learnt a lot and I have be definitely become customer.
Hope to go for their aperitivo next time I am in Puglia

My wife, young son and I really enjoyed the “All About Wine” tour which consisted of a fun hour long tour of the whole winery and one of their vineyards, then a tasting of 6 wines with antipasto.

Natalia was a great host and explained the family history of the company and the different wines they produce.

I thoroughly recommend visiting Cantine Paolo Leo if you’re in Puglia. Definitely the best winery tour we’ve experience in Italy.

This is our second time to bring friends/guests staying in one of our villas to an excursion at Cantine PaoloLeo.
The tour of the vineyards with the viticulture simply explained, and then being guided around the production facility, the fermentation/maturation process and finally the bottling plant being demonstrated, was a fascinating insight into how the sun kissed grapes are transformed into a delectable beverage.
We had the full option with a lunch of local specialities laid on during the actual sampling and tasting process.
The whole event was truly interesting and a day out that we all enjoyed.
Thank you so much Natalia for your professional and friendly attention throughout.

I booked this tour for my partner and I after trying the Paololeo organic Primitivo at home in the U.K. (and loving it). I can honestly say it was the best Euros we spent on our trip to Puglia.

The tours of the vineyard seem to be quite new, but wow, what an experience. The host Natalia was fantastic - friendly, incredibly knowledgable about wine and most importantly for us (as sadly we don’t speak Italian) fluent in English. It’s also very intimate - we didn’t feel rushed and it was just the three of us.

We were given a tour of the cellars, the machinery and the vineyards themselves and then drank and ate wine and cold meats and cheese until our hearts were content! We especially enjoyed the small family feel of the tour - the tomatoes we ate were grown by Natalia herself!

Whilst there’s not much in San Donaci itself to visit, we arrived early for the tour and Natalia gave us guidance on where else we could visit (further example of the great hospitality). We therefore also travelled about 20 minutes to Mesagne and saw some beautiful churches and traditional Italian back streets.

Thanks again for an experience we won’t forget!

Our afternoon at PaoloLeo was a real highlight in an exceptional week in Puglia. Natalia was an incredible host- gracious and knowledgeable.

We were a group of eight, and enjoyed very much our private tour, tasting and light lunch. It was absolutely fascinating and a real privilege to be able to go behind the scenes to see and understand how a large vineyard manages its production. We got to see every aspect of their production process from cultivation and harvest through to the automated bottling, labelling and packaging process. All in our group had been on other vineyard tours before, and this was a unique and fascinating experience for us all.

And then the wines! PaoloLeo makes excellent wines. We found reds, whites and roses that we loved. Natalia gave us the opportunity to try a great selection of wines and provided a wonderful assortment of light bites to go well with the wines- including veg from her own garden. We had a wonderful time enjoying a boozy lunch in the beautiful PaoloLeo shop- a space worth visiting even if you skip the tour.

An excellent experience with wonderful customer service throughout. Highly highly recommended. Thank you Natalia!

So, it's our first time in the very south of Italy. We planned a trip around the most southern part of the country. Two weeks of travelling with sun, local food en wine and the lovely italian sun.

Our first day. We arrive in Bari Airport, ready to pick up our bags and wait for our dirver. While we wait it starts raining (we are very early in the season).. Nevertheless we keep smiling and we check-in at our apartment. Than we go out to eat our first Italian pizza of this holiday and it certainly will not be our last! While we order, we think: 'It's our first night of the holiday, let's order a local wine'. So we did.

The wine came, we drank some and than we said to eachother: 'This is a really good wine, it must be expensive' We receive the bill and it was a fair price (not expensive at all). The next day we went back to the restaurant and we ordered the same wine again. Because we like the wine so much we took a picture of it. I also check the label and I see... The website of the vineyard. Enthusiastic as I am, i start up the internet and went to the website. On the website I read everything about the vineyard, the family behind the vineyard and the history. While I scroll further I see 'Winery Tours'.
I click it and yes Cantine Paololeo does do Wine Tours! And from that moment on, we planned a Winery Tour into our trip.

So here is the story about our Wine Tour called: 'A Bit of Salento'.

On the day we did our Tour it was raining again, Despite that we keep on smiling and drive to the Vineyard. The Tour started in the new (recently finished) store. I can say a very good job to the interior designer, because it's truly a beautiful store!

The Tour started with our lovely guide Natalia. We first went to the factory where grapes arrive. The plan was to go to the Vineyard, but because of the rain it wasn't a good plan to do so. (Now we have a second good reason to come back!). So the factory tour started. First we saw the machines that process the grapes. After that Natalia took us into the factory and showed us how the bottling process goes. We were very lucky beacause when we were there they just started bottling one of the wines Cantine Paololeo offers.

Natalia, our tour guide, explains the whole process from start to finish. Each step she explains us what happens in the line of production. It really was superb to see, hear and (later on) taste.

So we walk further to the storage room where some of the wines Cantine Paololeo offers are stored and prepared for sending. Than she tells us, walk with me thru this door. The door opens and what do we see... The storage room where some wine barrels are...(a lot). Wine barrels in different sizes and type of wood.
Natalia than explains us the reason of choice of barrel and type of wood, where the barrels are coming from and why wine is stored in barrels ... (a nice secret I can't tell you)...

So After the storage room we went back to the store for the last part of the tour.
A short story of the 'wine cellar' (in the store) where the family preserves their most exclusive wines and after that... Wine tasting. Because we were very early in the season we had the whole story to ourselves. We tasted three wines (Rosarose, white and red wine) and ate some local food.

For us this is a day to remember. Why? The hospitality of Natalia and the family is amazing. We felt so welcome. We talked a lot, laughed a lot and the whole process of making wine was explained in detail.

We would recommend to everyone who goes to the south of Italy to plan a visit to Cantine Paololeo. You can make a day trip of it (as we did) or just go for a few hours to experience how wine is made. Be sure to take your camera with you and arrange a taxi, because when you start drinking the wine you can't stop... And we all love safety Drink OR Drive..

The funny part of this (little) story... All this because of a label on a small bottle of wine

Recently we booked a tour to Puglia to visit wineries and taste their outstanding wines. We contacted Natalia, the tour manager of the Paololeo Winery at very short notice, just before our trip. She was extremely helpful, and received us for a tour, despite the fact that our visit was on Penticost Sunday. She also helped us, in resolving transport from our accommodation in Monopoli to the Winery.
We had a great tour, extremely informative, and she explained everything about the technology used in the wine making process .
This was followed by a fantastic lunch, with typical homemade local food, accompanied by their fabulous wines. Natalia joined us, presenting all the wines. We had a very friendly and family atmosphere. After lunch, we had the chance to buy the wines with shipment, so we didn`t have to worry about transporting them on the airplane. We would definitely go back, it was one of the highlights of our Puglian trip!

This was my first time visiting Salento and experiencing Paolo Leo wines - we had a great visit. We were greeted by the lovely Natalia who toured us through the vineyards to find out more about their viticulture followed by a tasting of a few top wines. One of them being the beautiful Orfeo made from Negroamaro - delicious. There's a very good shop at the winery but I understand they will open a wine store in San Donaci as well - so check it out! A great experience and worth the visit, grazie Natalia.
