Played Colonial a couple months ago and drove by here then and we decided to visit on a hot Friday 6/11/21. Got hooked up with a talkative single fella name Jan who had played it several times to “caddy” for us. Opened in 1962 it had old school lightning greens and had nice character especially on the back nine. For $20 each and $1 hot dogs, domestic cans and pop we knew why it was packed. We still got done in 4 hours. They are changing a few holes around on the front that will open soon we were told. Very nice gals in clubhouse. Some noise from Peterson farms on back few holes.

Probably will be back again on a Friday but when a little less humid and hot.
Great bargain Oceana!!

Was in good condition, the fairways were great. The course is a little too long for me (senior citizen). The greens are small, calling for tight approach shots. Challenging mostly because of the small, sloped greens

A real enjoyable course. Local knowledge with the greens is a big plus since a fairway iron to the wrong side of the green can be problematic. Dollar days on Fridays can’t be beat with dollar dogs and beers. We went after heavy rains and the greens were still pretty fast. Friendly staff and if you subscribe to their website you will get last minute deals like 18 holes with a cart for $15! After your round head to the Brown Bear restaurant in town (2 miles away) for excellent burgers or broasted chicken.

Oceana Golf Club is one of the best values in West Michigan in my humble opinion. There are some challenging holes, but also some short, risk / reward holes. Most of the par 5's are reachable in 2, with two very good shots. The set-up is fair, but you can find trouble easy, like at any course I imagine. At times the fairways look wide open, with only an array of small trees, bushes, pines, etc., scattered along the edge of the fairways. I often found myself shaking my head because what looked like a decent tee shot just off the fairway, was blocked to the green by one of these "minor" obstacles.

This course is known for their greens. They are fast and treacherous. One review said the course was less than average because the "greens were brutal." Some greens are brutal to say the least, but I find it a creative challenge, not a detriment to the club. The superintendent can really make those suckers lightening for their big events. You can't take a breather on any green, it requires 100% attention.

The Oceana Best Ball (Foster Open) is a great two man, two day best ball event. It's flighted after the Saturday round with 4 divisions, I believe. The event is always packed and the Pro / staff at Oceana treat you warmly and make you feel welcome.

The Friday $1 Days are awesome. Nothing wrong with an $18 round, $1 dogs, and $1 selected brews.

It's not much of a hint, and it's easier said than done; but stay under the flag on the tilted greens. Nothing wrong with a 2 putt at Oceana, you get aggressive and you can 3-4 wiggle for sure.

Hit the Brown Bear on the way in or out of town. Great little pub with burgers and fried asparagus that are legit.

Enjoy, and good luck!

Dollar holes, dollar beers (limited selection) and dollar hot dogs.
Friday is the time to go.
Course is adequate and a little challenging with some frickin' hard greens to read. : )

The golf course is less than average mainly because of the brutal greens. You will put half your strokes on this golf course, because the greens are awful. the rest of the experience there on a Friday special was very nice. $1 / hole and $1 beer and $1 hot dogs, you can't beat the price, but you can't beat the house either unless you just cut your puts in half or less. I don't think I will return but if you are a hacker looking for fun and some ball beating, its perfect.

This course is absolutely beautiful we try to get out every time we're in the Silver Lake area. The course itself is very long and a very hard course to par (or in my case even come close). It is kept up well but not perfect, it is off the beaten path so usually isn't horribly busy. If you want to get out and play some golf and enjoy the beauty of the area this is the course. Also usually on Fridays its a dollar a hole with a cart, dollar beers and dollar hot dogs. CAN'T BEAT THAT!
