Easy way to fill an evening with little kids

Can easily wade in the river while watching boats go by. Perfectly placed benches for you to sit by the river. Ample picnic tables for those who grab a meal from Clyde’s next door. The play area has hand sanitizer.

Great place to watch boats.

Downriver a bit from the heart of the Soo, this is near Clyde's original drive in. Comparatively clean and well kept given the sea gulls that flock there. If you want to watch the boats, this is a great spot.

This was. Nice little park to visit. It has a cute little fishing spot for kids. We didn't see any freighters but this would be a great spot to watch them go by.

A great spot to watch the freighters.

This is a nice little park on an island in the St. Mary's River. At the entrance to the park is a great little drive-in diner. Grab some food and then drive into the park. Back into a parking space and watch the ships go by. The freighters come so close! Of course, you should track the movements of the boats on your phone and plan your trip accordingly, otherwise, you might be sitting there for quite a while.

Amazing little spot for ship watching
Jul 2019 • Couples
I had read about this little park so we stopped in, waded in the water a bit and watched the Sugar Island Ferry. As we got ready to go a couple said there was a ship coming through so we stayed to watch. We didn’t realize this little area was the channel for the ships and how very close they came! Not only did we watch one coming to Soo but also one leaving! It was a thrill to see them so close.
The park itself is very nice with bathrooms, tables, benches grills etc. Lots of people walking dogs there too.
We also drove down the island a bit and saw some nice houses— we can’t imagine that view every day.
Definitely need to check out!

Nice little park

There is a playground area for children. It seemed to be a popular place for jet-skiers. There's a walking path around the park. The water level was so high when we visited, part of the path by the gazebo was under water. Not that it would have been an issue for walkers. This would definitely be a good place to have a picnic and watch the freighters go by.

Favorite place to watch freighters
Jul 2019 • Couples
Rotary Park is the best place hands down for photographing freighters. The river is quite narrow here and seeing the freighters up-bound with trees on both sides is fantastic. Plus we travel with our 4 legged kid and he can get some exercise while we watch freighters and the Sugar Island Ferry.

Love Great Lake Freighters?..... Get There!
Jun 2019 • Couples
No kidding, this is the place to see these great ships up close, moving slowly by. Great photo opportunities! This was our first visit to the park. We sat there for hours and saw many freighters go by. The best part is watching the number of people increase as the ship approach. The Boat Nerds are out in great numbers taking photos. I recommend that if you enjoy the Great Lakes Freighters that you follow these people (BoatNerds) on social media (Facebook/Twitter).

If this review has helped you decide to visit Rotary Park, please give it a thumbs up. I appreciate it. Happy Vacationing!

Big freighters up close
Jun 2019 • Couples
This is a favorite spot for photographers. At this point the shipping channel is only about 200 yards wide, so the boats are really up close.
