We had a lot of fun on this ride! Our guide/driver was very knowledgeable and very entertaining! Even though it was a foggy morning, he made the experience memorable and enjoyable! Due to the high demand, booking this experience required some research and patience! They only open ticket sales one week in advance to the day. I highly recommend going on their website right at 10 am one week prior to you wanting to do it and booking it right away. It fills up fast! We went on the 10 am ride and it was a bit chilly, so bring a jacket. Also, make sure your hat and sunglasses are secure.

We had a wonderful time with our guide Frosty! The ride was fun, the jokes were cheesy, and the information about the surrounding area keeps you engaged.
I would like to mention that they really appreciated our call ahead that we would show up at the scheduled time (not 15 minutes early as they recommend). They ensured the truck waited for us and also that the check in was expedited so nobody had to wait longer than they had to. You do not want to be left behind on this ride!

We've gone twice this summer, with a different driver each time, and both experiences were great albeit fairly different. One driver made more stops, giving more background information and telling more jokes, while the other driver was not nearly as fun but quite a bit more aggressive in his driving making things a bit more thrilling.
Reservations open a week in advance and it is important to stay on top of that to get a reservation that matches a preferred schedule. Everything can be done online, so once there, getting tickets with the ride number is all it takes. Everything runs smoothly, on time, and as expected. The dunes are private and definitely something else. A longer stop mid course gives an opportunity to stretch legs, climb some dune tops, or simply take magnificent pics in front of the dunes and with the lake in the background. At $22 per head for a 30-40 minutes outing, it's not exactly cheap, but it is a unique experience.

Way more thrilling than we expected and a ton of fun. Our driver (Frosty) was funny, engaging, and knew a ton about the dunes and surrounding areas. The ride itself is really fast at times over dunes and around turns, almost like a mini roller coaster. Our kids (10, 12) loved it and the adults did as well. Highly recommend if you're in the area - whole thing is about 45-60 mins.

If you enjoy fun at all, go on this ride. My BFF and I stopped here during a road trip and even though we love completely different activities we both had a great time on the dune ride. Our tour guide was Bernie who was of course fun telling all the cheesy tour guide jokes. I loved it! I also learned stuff about cottonwood trees and dunes so also educational. There were kids probably 6 or 7, teens, younger adults, and my friend and I the older ones and everyone had such a good time. Can't recommend it enough. I would encourage buying the tickets online first to ensure you have a spot when you want!

Our family of six (2 adults and 4 kids) had a blast on the Saugatuck Dune Ride! Our guide, Nate, took the time to ask all the kids their names and talk with them throughout the ride. We enjoyed the fun trail adventure and hearing about the history of the dunes. We will be back for sure!

The driver was very personable and knew a lot of fun facts about the area and of course his driving techniques in the dunes were spot on. Did not realize that it would be a sand dune Nascar ride. I do not think children under 6 should be allowed on it however. We have a 2 year old and if she wasn't strapped to my lap then I fear she could have been injured.
Overall it was a great experience, family friendly and informative. The website shows driving next to the lake which we thought was Lake Michigan ( we're from Texas) but it was not and the lake was drying up due to the sand dunes so that wasn't part of it.
Worth the money, cool adventure. Would recommend.

Bernie did a great job of giving us the history of the dunes and area surrounding. Bernie made some great jokes that had us all laughing. I would highly recommend taking a dune ride at Saugatuck Dune Rids!

My family has been enjoying the Dune Rides for decades, and it is always one of the highlights of the summer. The drivers always give a thrilling ride over the dunes, with jokes along the way and a lot of information about the formation of the sand dunes. Highly recommend!

Not being familiar with the area, we were looking for a morning activity around Holland, Mi. The Saugatuck Dunes popped up as a possibility. My wife and I decided to give it a try, and we were glad we did. Our driver's name was "Frosty". He was a lot of fun and did an amazing job of providing information about the Dunes, and the history of that area. He mixed humor in with his knowledge and did a great job of creating a thrill factor with his driving of the vehicle. there were a couple of stops on the tour and made for nice photos.
Well worth the $25 / ea.
Thank you Frosty for a fun time.

Are measures in place for COVID? Are people crammed in the seats or are they socially distant?

Everyone had to wear a mask while on the ride. They have 4-5 people per seat. The vehicle is open (no doors or top) and we saw them sanitizing the vehicle after every ride.
Is this experience safe for a pregnant woman? How bumpy is it?

If I were pregnant I would not go on this ride. It’s not terribly bumpy but it is fast! 1 seat belt for the whole row. This is just my opinion. Others may be okay with it.

Does this take you down to the lake for a chance to put your toes in?

No, but it’s fun!
Looking to book a dune ride for our family this week. What time of day is best to go? Evening when it’s cooler and closer to sunset? Or midday and warm and sunny?

Our adventure was 5:30.
The stops along the ride are not long - the stop at top of dune was about 10 minutes. The wind was blowing and felt great.
Another part of the ride was thru a forest - all shade.
I would say any time that is convenient for your family is good!

Don't know if this is same place my dad took us as children. One ride included the driver acting like he was going to get up a tall sand dune. He down shifted and down shifted as he go more and more vertical, the said guess we won't make it and shifted into neutral and we all coasted very fast backward down the hill. It was quite a thrill. Does this sound familiar to anyone else?

I think I kniw what you are describing. Our driver said that there were a number of companies operating the dune rides years ago but due to liability concerns they stopped. I think there are only 2 left in the state and they no longer do the wild and crazy stunts. He also said those companies would make their schooners go airborne. Yes, I can understand the liability question. Lol

don't know if went on as a child, but remember getting into something akin to school bus with top off. are there larger vehicles or just small jeeps? also my wife has a shunt in her neck. can you visualize a problem for this?

It is an open air Jeep, with a handful or rows. Our family of 5 sat together in a single row. There is a seat belt for the entire row. You all hold a bar in front as the driver zooms over dirt tracks. They had a front seat provision for pregnant women, or heart conditions. I would call to confirm suitability for your wife.
Hi. Are there any health concerns riding the Jeep for elderly persons

We are both around 60 and had no issues. They have steps to help get in and out. A bus load of seniors returned while we were waiting to ride. They had no issues. As others said, ride up front if bad back, pregnant or have other health concerns.
