The reason I chose this beach is based on some reviews since I don't like to go to a crowed beach in this time of year. There're two trails nearby the parking lot : Beach Trail and North Trail. We chose the North Trail to star it and passed by a pond, woods, went up and down the dune, then... More

Signage to the park is easy but the parking lots are confusing. The ranger was able to direct us to the correct one for the beach walk. We got advice from other travelers not to try to take a stroller on the trail. The walk was under a mile and most of the way was through beautifully treed hard sand... More

This state park is huge and there are so many miles of trails to explore! The name is fitting because it is mostly primary and secondary dune. I grew up in the Lake Michigan dunes but these have really spectacular gullys and heights. The lake levels are high right now but there is still enough beach left to play on... More

Our family loves hiking and the beach, so this was the best of both worlds. To access the beach, one needs to take an easy to moderate hike that took our family about 15 minutes. Once we arrived at the beach, we found that it was by far the least busy beach we visited in West Michigan (we also visited... More

Visited the state park this past weekend. It is a bit of a walk to the beach, approximately .5 miles. The beach is well-maintained and has a beautiful view. If you enjoy walking along the beach, the beach is about 2 miles long. The only downside is the bathroom facilities. There is only one outhouse close to the beach and... More

So I "liked" the Facebook page which gave me some inside information. We some beautiful walking along the blue to red to white paths down to the lake shore. Went through some amazing forest with different sorts of trees. You could choose more open dunes routes, but it was hot when we were there. We pretty much winged it and... More

When we arrived at the gatehouse no one was on duty so it required self registation. No info or trail maps were provided. Trails are poorly marked. All this took away from what should have been a fun experience. Overpriced at $9.

The trails through Saugatuck Dunes State Park are comfortable and serene through the trees. It was an enjoyable hike with the reward of the trail opening up to the beach on Lake Michigan. There are no vendors, so it's recommended to bring water or any provisions you may want. You can easily do the round trip, even spending a few... More

We stopped at the park to eat lunch before going on the dune buggies and decided to take the beach trail. It was a mile long hike with such a beautiful sight and the end. Well worth the time!

After a long walk to the beach we enjoyed a scenic and quiet stay at the beach. There are clean outhouse type facilities. The view is wonderful. Assume due to the walk it never gets crowded.
