After Labor Day approached and the first chill occurred, I knew that summer was fleeting and I had to get to the beach just one final time. This mid-September there was a high 70s/low 80s day on the weekend and my wife, 2 year old,...More

It's a busy beach, but there's a reason for that. The water, sand and beach grass are beautiful. There is a fee to enter the park (I think around $8-10).

Abolutely gorgeous. The water is cool at best and usually cold, but the sand is soft the water is pretty and the dunes are fun. Lots of families. A gem.

Parking is close to the beach. The water is crystal clear and shallow for a long way out. My teenagers got bored fast because there weren't waves at all when we went. Not sure if it is like that all the time due to the...More

The beach is kind of tucked away from the town but is clean with lots of nice sand. About 5 minutes from the town.

Unfortunately it was a cool and very rainy day on our visit. We sat in the car and watched someone paddle boarding which was very cool! The waves were incredible. The sand was clean and there appeared to be plenty of parking available. We did...More

No, there is not. You need to supply your own. They do have a little concessions stand there now, but no beach rentals. There are a few places in town, I believe, that may rent those?

Mill Pond Realty offers vacation rentals. Check out their website and view the vacation rentals. We have dealt with them and they are very friendly and extremely helpful. Best vacation rental agency in the area.

President George W. Bush Library, Dallas, TX (2 Replies)
This great venue is on the grounds of Southern Methodist University. We spent nearly two hours watching videos and viewing the exhibits. We even has our picture taken while sitting behind the desk in "The Oval Office." They had a professional photographer there just in case you didn't bring your smart phone or a camera. There is a gift shop in the library offering a wide variety of souvenirs. Overall this was a very enjoyable walk down memory lane without 43rd President. If you are in Dallas,...More

Hi, Jim, and welcome to the forums. I'm sure others considerign a visit will be happy to hear about your experience at the Library, but forum posts tend to get lost in the shuffle as time goes on. You may want to post an actual review here - tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g55711-d41… - so that it can be easily seen by others.

Walk to beach? (2 Replies)
Hi. We are staying in Saugatuck this weekend on Water St. and we were wondering if we have to drive to Oval Beach from Saugatuck or is there possibly a ferry and path to the beach? I looked at Mapquest and it doesn't look like a long walk as long as there is a ferry to get across the river. Also, are there any nice jogging paths close to Water St./Butler St.? And finally, any recommendations for renting waverunners or small boats? Thanks in advance for all your help!

The Chain Ferry will take you across the Kalamazoo for $1 per person. It is a hand-cranked ferry (the oldest running in the country) and takes you across in about 5-6 minutes. The hours are 11am-8pm M-F and 9am-9pm Sat & Sun. Once across the Kalamazoo, you can follow the 2 lane road in and walk there in about 20 minutes or you can climb the 282 stairs on Mt. Baldy and go down the back of the dunes. Either way is a fun way to get there. As for jogging paths in town, I would have to say...More

Oval beach (2 Replies)
We are coming to Saugatuck for the first time with our 2 sons, 3 and 6 yr old, next month. We plan to go to Oval Beach. I have found some general information online, such as fee for parking, but can't find what is ok to bring on the beach. Are there any restrictions? Ok to bring own umbrella, chairs, etc? Can we bring our own cooler and food, assuming no glass bottles but otherwise anything else ok? I see there is a concession stand, does this have just snacks or actually food, like hotdogs,...More

No restrictions on what you can bring. I think concession stand has hot dogs. Parking is right by the beach. Enjoy our beach, it's.a beautiful spot.
