We got a canoe, and and launched it from a shallow part of the river. There is so many hidden places and some places you could get out and swim. It was so relaxing and the wildlife is stunning. I would recommend this to every one.

We had the privilege of joining a group of Hope College parents on a sunset cruise. While the company was good, the views are even better. This may be my maiden voyage on the great lakes. The area is very scenic with beautiful houses lining up the shoreline. Certainly a good place to visit if you are in the area.

I enjoy renting a kayak in Saugatuck with friends and floating back to Douglas or continuing through Saugatuck to Lake Michigan (if it's calm enough... and you have friends who can bring you back up stream and the current is very very strong). Luckily a few local fisherman were able to pull us off of it. (probably why rented pontoons aren't allowed past the K-zoo bridge on Blue Star) It is a wide river and hard to paddle in some spots - there are some beautiful reed areas where only kayaks can go that are beautiful and peaceful to be temporarily lost in

We enjoyed our ride on the Star of Saugatuck. Beautiful views of Kalamazoo Lake and River and the homes built nearby. Had views of Oval Beach from Lake Michigan. Nice relaxing ride and a chance to sit for a while.
