Stopped here on a bicycle ride from St Johns. Friendly service, enjoyed cider tasting and then a glass on the deck. Homemade Michigan crafts and goodies. Amazing lemon bars!
For bicyclists: beware that we could not find paved roads from St Johns. Dirt roads were well maintained (and assessable by highway for cars). Just meant our tandem required a good washing.

Remember when cider mills were about great tasting cider, picking apples, and getting your shoes muddy in the pumpkin patch next to the barn? If you're like me and you are tired of the bounce house, tour bus packed and crowded parking lots that seem ubiquitous at Michigan's cider mills, take heart. Phillips Cider Mill and Gatehouse Market has just the nostalgic experience you're craving.
They curate their apple selection and press the best tasting cider I've had. Ever. Want to enjoy cider and donuts at their location just off US 127? No problem. They've added cute seating amidst a tumble of pumpkins, gourds, and squash of all kinds. Inside the Gatehouse Market you can pick up delicious made-from-scratch donuts, pies, and other Michigan-made products. Great selection and really good prices.
If you venture about three miles down the road, you'll find the kind of cider mill your grandparents used to take you to...a working, family farm/orchard where Brian and Gregg will invite you to take a picnic and walk through the orchard and pumpkin patch. Or, they offer horse-drawn wagon rides on the weekends. It's all low-key, relaxing, and fun. And the fact that it's an inter-generational family farm makes me happy.

A great place to visit and buy apples and pies. Best prices around. Staff were very friendly and allowed us to sample an apple prior to buying a brand of apple we were not familiar with. We will definitely go here again.

I have always found this to be my favorite cider. Today however I stopped to purchase a gallon, cookies and a pie. They only had available 1/2 gallons which would have cost 12.50 for a gallon as opposed to 8.50. As gallons were unavailable I believe the price for 2 halfs should have been the same as a gallon. A plastic bottle does not cost 4 dollars to manufacture, fill and sell. Oh well thier loss of the other purchases as well. Maybe it will have to be U. JOHNS next time.

So so overpriced. 32.00 for a bushel of apples is insane. I don’t know who it was I talked to, apparently one of the owners and he was terribly condescending when I asked about a particular type of apple, he said why don’t you just get Jonga Gold, which was not the apple I wanted I said no thanks and he looks at my husband and says, “oh she must have a story here.” No dummy, it’s just not what I want. 5.00 for a half gallon of cider, sold out of all but 2 plain donuts. All in all, not worth the 2 plus hour drive.

My family loves to stop in and get a gallon of cider. It’s delicious every time we get it.
We love all of the new art work and MI items that they carry, it’s a great place to get unique gifts for friends and family.
Give it a try you won’t be disappointed.

This is a regular stop for our family throughout the season. Lots of Michigan made products to go with their apples, cider, and fried cakes.

It had been a while since I last stopped in to buy apples, and I was impressed. They really expanded their shop. They now have a large supply of Michigan products: mugs, jellies, signs, clothing, candles, etc. It is now a great place to go for gift giving. It also still has apples...lots of apples of varying kinds. I try not to eat artificial sweeteners so I am not able to comment on their pies, fudge, donuts, etc., but they do have a lot of them too!

Best cider around, and the baked good are delicious, they make you feel so welcome when you come in. It's not very big, very non-commercial (which I like), stock up for winter by throwing some in the freezer.
