Came here last week and most of the animals seemed like they were starving looking for food! Poor penguins and the otter were just waiting at the gates for someone, wolves here pacing like crazy. I feel so bad for these poor animals.

What a lovely little zoo. The foliage was breath taking. The paths were winding and much to my surprise, led to 2 bald eagles. I have only seen 1 in flight in my 71 years. I truly enjoyed my stroll through this cute zoo. I would have purchased a sweat shirt had they had them. I highly recommend you visit the. Children's Zoo.

The zoo is absolutely wonderful and beautiful. My 4 and 9 year olds loved it. Very clean, easy to see the animals and much to do. Plenty of places to sit and pack a picnic. There is a carousal, a train ride, a sand box where kids can look for fossils and a very nice playground. Also has a concession stand and all the bathrooms were very clean. We spent a little over two hours there. The prices were also very affordable for everything. We will for sure be coming back!

I read all the reviews on here. Some said how there were hardly any animals but others said for young children it's ok. I decided to chance it with my young family and boy were we disappointed. I paid $50 for 2 adults and 4 kids, they charge full price for 1 yr and up. We knew it would be a small zoo but it was even smaller considering that there were hardly any animals out, and a lot of exhibits were closed. We hardly saw any animals and when we did, there was no one there to let us in to pet them. The butterfly exhibit looked very nice on the outside but when we went in there was a grand total of one butterfly in the entire place! The otters were not swimming and no where to be found. The wolfs were not there either. The train was closed so was the reptile exhibit. The wobbely bridge was closed for repairs. We went through the whole zoo in about an hour. I am disappointed because if you have a small zoo to begin with, make sure that whatever is there is up and running and animals are available. If you can't do that then you have no right to charge full price and especially for a 1 yr old who has no clue what he's looking at and is not entertained in the least but empty cages with grass and bushes.

I love that Saginaw alone in the Great Lakes Bay region has a zoo. It is well kept, gardens are lovely, animals seem happy and well cared for and they have an old steam train! It is worth a trip to see it. The kids will love it!

Lovely little zoo that won't wear you out but still has plenty of animals to see. Its called a children's zoo but as adults visiting without children we enjoyed it very much - great value at only $5 to get in.

When people say zoo, they automatically think a real zoo. This is a Children's Zoo, that means there's going to be animals but it's not some giant place, you can walk around and spend all day looking at everything. This is a great place for children to come and see some of the animals they normally wouldn't see, like penguins, wolves, alligators. But if you are looking for a zoo then this isn't the greatest place. But if you're looking for fun period, then this place is great. My daughter had fun looking at all the animals and interacting with a lot of things, but one of the favorite things for her was the fossil fine. They also have the petting zoo, the playground interactive area, small place you can get food. If I was a Michigan resident, and I wasn't just up there for vacation, I would definitely have you around passes. This is something that you can do with your children that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, doesn't make you tired by walking around everywhere all day, but it's also very educational and exciting at the same time.

Majestic bald eagles. Exotic monkeys. Playful penguins. Hilariously cute prairie dogs. Giant cows. A ferocious alligator. Lazy kangaroos and wallabies...

...Are just some of the animals you'll find at the Saginaw Children's Zoo. Not a big zoo by any means, but certainly a great way to spend the day. Picnic areas, clean restrooms and a few nice playgrounds with slides, climbing walls, bridges and more. Fun petting area with goats and other animals. Not to mention a great carousel with locally-carved animals, and a cute little train that takes a few dozen passengers at a time around the zoo grounds.

It's come a long way since it was privatized over a decade ago...When I was a kid, seems like all they used to have were a goldfish and (literally) a lame duck...Now they boast quite an eclectic collection of animals and fun activities.

Fun for kids of all ages...Our 2 and 4 year old girls have a ball every time. Get a membership--it's pretty much the cost of 2 visits for a family of four. Not to mention the membership's reciprocity program, getting either free or 1/2 off admission at scores of zoos around the country, including many others in Michigan.

And membership also gets you unlimited train and carousel rides for the whole family--that's $4 per family per ride alone--and our girls want to do the carousel and train at least 3 times per visit. (And you can, you can walk off the train, and right back on if you want to, same with the carousel--waiting in line for both of course, if there is one). But for out-of-towners, either a carousel or train ride is just a buck per person.

I am partial to this zoo because I can see the love that *MOST* volunteers/employees have here. The animals are very well kept from what I can see. However, some improvements could and should be made. I.E., the aquarium area....such a shame to see something that could be put to use just sitting. I do not think that the serval there has enough room. He needs a larger habitat in my opinion. I do like the new little playground area just built, its nice. But I really would like to have seen improvements to the animals living quarters. They should always come first. Price is good, and its a great place to take the family for the day. They offer several events throughout the year (zoo boo, Xmas events etc) and allow Birthday Parties, in which we have taken advantage of. We have a membership for the family as well. I do have to mention that upon our last visit we did run into a rather rude young lady, intern/volunteer at the ticket booth. She was quite the snot. Apart from that, we enjoy it here! Hoping for growth in the future!

I took my own kids to this zoo 25 years ago, and it's still going strong to take our Grandson there. A little worn on the edges over the years, but very clean and friendly. Love the corporate sponsors and families that maintain all the gardens. Each little spot of garden tells a story. The train ride is still the hit it used to be as is the carousel. Doesn't take too long to make your way around, leaving plenty of time to play on the playground, have a snack and check out the butterfly house.
