This golf club has closed and the course is now private parkland. The club house has been converted into houses.

Nice track, worth a visit

I played here a while ago when it was a 36 hole layout. Now just the original 18 survive which is a shame but an economic reality I suspect. Course was is ok condition for time of year and whilst not the longest, some tight and interesting holes that needs good golf to score well (hcp 12)

Great waitress, below par food and shocking post-meal service

We visited after a trip to Dewstow gardens ( wonderful, please do visit!) for lunch. We are non members, but having read reviews here, saw we would be welcome for lunch. The food and decor was straight out of the 1970's but I can live with that. My patents were happy, mine was fine but my husband was disappointed his salmon was over cooked. As said in the title, our waitress was wonderful, and my daughter was smitten! We were quite satisfied until we were ready to pay! It took 25 minutes! The waiting staff abandoned us and the bar staff seemed to prioritise members drinks over taking the significant sum owed for 4 starters and main courses. When I finally did make it to the front of the queue ( jumped quite a few times by golfers, no fault of theirs at all I might add!) my order had not been added to the till, so I had to recite the full order so it could be entered. The, I assume manager, who had taken the order and had been hunted for by the staff who couldn't find the order on the till, finally returned, saying she'd been 'chatting'... 25 minutes at this point!
We had been planning to take my daughter to Walnut Tree Farm Park ( a family favourite, again, highly recommended!) but with an hour to drive home and now gone 3.30, we had to skip it. Very unhappy at the unnecessary wait, which put pay to our afternoon.
Apologies to our delightful waitress who I felt I should have tipped, however I was so angry after mt wait, I couldn't bring myself to.

Brilliant evening's entertainment even though we had a wall in the way and couldn't see the band. The place was packed. There was room to dance and the drink prices were reasonable.

GREAT SOCIETY OPTION
Jun 2016 • Friends
Society visit of 27 golfers. Bacon bap with coffee, 18 holes and a one course meal for around £30 in the summer - very good value. Challenging holes and not too much rough. Well maintained although greens were slow - must be the welsh rain. Very well looked after by both admin and bar staff. Bar prices acceptable. Would certainly visit again but rumour has it that course may be closing soon - didn't see many Members!

Pre booked golf package. Organised well by club and food before and after was timely and well presented. Staff were excellent in shop and bar/restaurant. Course was looking autumnal such that we used prefer lies. This course offers a stiff challenge to all levels of golfer, with tight tree lined fairways requiring accurate straight hitting. Greens had seen some winter maintenance. Would come again but probably make it a summer visit.

We spent a very enjoyable afternoon at the driving range. We enjoyed it so much that we have enquired about taking golf lessons.
We await a date to start. The coffee/tea bar was a pleasant area to sit in with such lovely views. Look forward to our next weekly visit....

Doesn't quite live up to its potential

We visited Dewstow Golf club for lunch whilst passing through Caerwent. It looked very attractive but parking wasn't ideal on a slope among the trees. On entering we weren't sure which door led to the bar and which door led into private rooms so we chose "Exit" and found ourselves in the bar/restaurant. The menu was a selection of basic pub food with standard beverages. We chose steak and ale pie and a ham omelette. Both came with very overcooked greasy chips and were not attractively presented but were tasty. We also has to search for the cutlery and salt etc...which were on a shelf through a door en route to the loos. We sat on the terrace with a wonderful view overlooking the golf course. The staff were pleasant but more were needed to cope with the numbers of visitors to the gardens across the road. A very attractive setting with tasty food which could be excellent if upgraded.

Cheap. Too cheap
Could be the best course in the area but they don't bother with essentials like weed killer etc. More daisies on fairways than grass.

But.... lots of mature trees and interesting holes. And only charge £16 to play.

I'd be happy to pay £30 if they bothered with basic conditioning.

Strange business model. Clearly not working as 2nd course closing.
