We have been coming to the Farmer's Market in downtown Royal Oak for years, mostly at Christmas time. And we did so once again last month. Roughly half the market is produce, meat, and other food products while the other half is crafts, specialty items, and resale vintage. Generally there is a bakery, a coffee vendor, and a cafe. Often there is a musician or two performing. I've often bought my poinsettias and greens and homemade candy treats here. it is always worth a stop or two on Saturdays in December to pick up holiday gifts and decorations. On Sundays, they have the antiques market. And throughout the year, there are special events in and around the market building.

I am a regular at the RO Farmer's Mrkt. Esp later in the summer and in the fall when the local farmers have the most to offer from in season produce.
Currently construction around the market means parking is limited on site but across the street on the other side of the library (off 11 Mile Rd) is a brand new 500+ space parking structure with lots of parking. (and the1st 2 hrs are free, plenty of time to shop the market).

One of the best places around for great local produce, eggs, meat, chicken, baked goods and so much more. There is a coffee shop in the market, and plenty of Michigan made items which would be great for gifts.

I thought this was a farmers market but it’s just a place for people to bring dogs. I see no reason for dogs to be in where I’m buying produce. They can’t shop! Go to a dog park. I’m not an animal hater but this kinda stuff is ridiculous..won’t go back.

The Royal Oak Farmers Market used to be my Saturday morning first stop. Now there is no parking, many of the vendors are gone and the prices are terrible. Sorry, but someone ruined a great thing.

What could be much better than a Saturday morning visit to the Farmer's Market located at 316 East 11-Mile Road at Troy Street here in Royal Oak, Michigan.
Here is what's better. To visit the Farmer's Market, in late October at Halloween time on a magnificent crisp sunny Saturday Autumn morning. My wife and I did just this and it was wonderful. I hope some of my photos are uploaded to show what I mean.

All local businesses, organic, fresh, homemade foods (meat, poultry ,vegetables, dairy, jams, baked goods.) Saturdays. Free parking during farmers market hours.

IF you are in Royal Oak on a Saturday morning (the earlier the better) and are interested in down-home produce and baked goods and craft items and just want to check out the local scene then you do not want to miss visiting the Royal Oak Farmer's Market. When we visited they even had live entertainment (I have posted a photo or two) that my wife and I totally enjoyed. A wonderful experience.

The Saturday Farmer's Market in Royal Oak is a great place to get plants, fresh produce, fresh bakery items and a variety of artisanal food products -- including honey, cheese and home-cooked items. You can leave there with a bag full of veggies at prices much less than the grocery stores. The venue is indoors and under the cover of the two large "porches" -- so the market is a good place even in inclement weather. The building is clean with modern, indoor restrooms and a small café area where you can get a snack or a light lunch.

I cannot begin to say how disappointed I was with this event. From the advertisement it looked like it would be a great place to take the kids (range from 12 - 18), eat some great food and listen to some music. Parking was a mess so we had to pay to park in a lot for $5 dollars a car at a law office. So much for free advertised parking!
We were there on Friday (the first day of the event) the lines were terrible and the vendors ran out of food by 7pm! People were not happy so we just left. Luckily BD's Mongolian Grill was close by and was able to accommodate our group (10 of us) and the food was great!
