Good place to launch float off trailer boats

One of the only deep launches on the lake. Weekends are busy between 11am-5pm. There are lots of parking places, too. When the lakeside lot fills, there is much more parking... read more

Have not been here in a couple of years but this is still one of the nicest state parks in Michigan. Very nice beach area. Plenty of campsites. A beautiful overlook of Mackinaw bridge. We stopped in the day after Labor day and it was empty. We had a picnic by the beach and had great weather. A must go... More

We did our inaugural camping trip here and it was great! We used only tents and loved it. Very nice bathroom set-up, spacious lots, and clean. The boat ramp was good, beach excellent, and Higgins Lake? In my top 5 happy spots. We will definitely be back next year.

They wouldn't let us in at Higgins Lake State Park because they require only a recreational pass. You can't buy a day pass. I don't get it. Every State Park is happy to take your money. We ended up going to a small park down the road just to see it and this lake is absolutely gorgeous! We are planning... More

This lake is unique in that much of it is shallow and all of it crystal clear, so you can boat to your own spot and have your own personal swimming pool. There's so much to not do. And that's a good thing. Saw some great shooting stars.

One of the only deep launches on the lake. Weekends are busy between 11am-5pm. There are lots of parking places, too. When the lakeside lot fills, there is much more parking across the street. You need to keep your dog on a leash until you pull away. There are restrooms near the launch as well as a nice swimming beach,... More

We used to LOVE Higgins, but won't go back after two years of terrible swimmers itch. The itch and terrible red marks and uncomfortable skin lasts for weeks after you get home. What a shame, this lake is gorgeous.

We were here over twenty years ago when our kids were small. Returned this year with the kids and grandkids. We were on five sites which appeared to back up to each other. We had a canopy tent over the picnic table between sites. We were told by the ranger we had to move as we were on "common ground".... More

This place is beautiful, the lake is clean and with different colors, able to bring my puppy as long as they are on leash and clean after their mess. With the public access for boat launching we are able to bring our boat. Beautiful day! This lake has a beautiful clean beaches .

Across from the CCC Museum and picnic area, it has a great beach, wonderful camping and clean facilities! It is great for day use and there is ample pavilion space available for groups. There is a boat launch and play area for children. Close to US 127 it's easy to get to and only about 6 miles from Roscommon. There... More
