I had some worries going to this venue as we were on our way camping at Platte River and pulling a 30ft Airstream travel trailer. The worry was "where are we going to park?" As soon as we pulled up to the main entrance, we were waived to go to the VIP section parking. There we were able to pull in the truck and trailer easily. This took a lot off my mind and I was able to focus on the event.
The gate guards mentioned that we were unable to bring in bottled water or regular chairs. So, you can bring in low beach chairs, blankets and such and as far as the drinks go...you can pay $4 usd for a bottle of water, $12 for beer. If you've got deep pockets this wouldn't be an issue. I have been to an event that let you bring in your own drinking container and they had stations of fresh water to fill them up...it's life's necessity, right?
We chose to sit on the grass where chairs and blankets were used and enjoyed the view as well as the sound system was amazing.
Overall, we would go back and make sure to drink lots before entering.

This is a wonderful place to see a show. Parking was easy to get in and get out of. Food choices were limited but adequate. I love this venue but avoid going there because of the lack of restrooms. They have a few porta potties around that sit somewhat on a slant so you feel like you're going to fall out of it. The womens restroom only has 7 or 8 stalls and the configuration is terrible. There is always a long line, even if you try to time it during the show. I would go to this venue more often but don't care to spend that kind of money to use a porta potty. I'm surprised that with the folks that manage this venue, they don't do better.

A friendly, concert venue, nice lawn area with a good hill slope. Theatre seats are good, but we really like the lawn. It is not a mega-facility and feels like what you'd want for an outdoor concert.
Negatives are drink prices and parking cost.

What does this venue have against women?? The restroom situation was the worst I have ever seen! I was there for Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats (THEY were AMAZING btw), and needed to stop at the restroom between the opener and main event and was shocked at the lack of resources. There was ONE brick & mortar ladies restroom with no more than 10 stalls for this entire venue!!! The line ran up the stairs past the waterfall - YES, there is a waterfall for us ladies to stand beside while waiting in this impossible line. Inconsiderate to say the least. I stood there for 35 minutes waiting to take my spot. All the while, there was NO LINE AT ALL for the men.We stood there, listening to the waterfall and watching the men come and go. It was infuriating. Don't get me wrong, I heard that there were also porta potties scattered about, but the lines were just as long, and once you were in one line who wanted to take the chance at getting in an even longer line?? This was terrible. They should be ashamed. Thesis not a new problem, men and women have different needs. Much bigger venues have figured it out, why is this still allowed? They need to do better.

Meadow Brook Amphitheatre, Rochester Hills, MI : Simple, nice but very friendly place for concerts and shows. Amphitheatre has a good acustic for the concers, good infrastructure for food and amenities, but placed on Oakland University hills. Nice to relax and enjoy good moments with good music of your choice.

The experience was very disappointing for the following reasons:
• We arrived before 6:30 p.m. and had to wait over an hour in a very, very long line in the hot sun to get into the venue.
• Going through a metal detector is unnecessary and promotes fear, rather than safety.
• The concert started before we got into the venue and there were many people still waiting in line.
• There was no program/brochure with the songs to be performed and additional information about the concert. If you want to go paperless, post a program brochure online.
• Poor signage.
• Too many people - reducing the capacity would have ensured that people wouldn’t have to sit on the backside of the hill where you can’t see the performers.
• Outrageous Ticketmaster surcharge - $19.50 lawn ticket with $11.15 surcharge.

We will not be going to future Meadowbrook concerts.

Helps when weather cooperates for these types of events and on May 21 weather indeed was pleasant for attending The 1975 concert at this venue just 20 min north of Detroit. We were seated under the pavilion (row DD) and found both sound and viewing were excellent! Here's my best tip for any concert goers in the future - GET THE VIP Parking! It will save you so much time getting out off the grounds especially following a sold-out show. $15 for standard field parking and $35 for VIP. It is worth every penny and then some if you wish to make a quick and easy escape especially if you have some distance between you and home.

Saw Steeley Dan here recently. Low Key!!! Plenty of lawn room. The concert was awesome and we were in and out easily compared to DTE. I will be heading back for more after a 30-year hiatus.

Located in the heart of Rochester on the grounds of Oakland University this is a gem of a venue for a concert...large enough to enjoy but, not too big you will have a great time with wonderful dining and shops so so close!
