When you are visiting the area be sure to stop and see the NEW Presque Isle Lighthouse as well. This is a very beautiful lighthouse that is surrounded by trees on three sides. It is well worth the climb to the top of the lighthouse for a small fee. Restrooms are very accessible.

Old Presque Isle light is 30 feet tall and 18 feet in diameter at the base — consists of the bottom two-thirds made of stone, with a round brick section above. It is an easy climb with a nice picturesque view. You can climb this lighthouse and the old Presque Isle lighthouse for $5. The keepers house/gift shop is small but interesting.

I call this a hidden gem lighthouse because the driveway up to it was closed. We saw some of the reviews on trip advisor, so we decided to follow the advice of others and park at the gate and walk. It was about a 10 minute walk from the gate to the lighthouse. It was nice to see the Old lighthouse and the New lighthouse on the same day- after driving all the way out there, we didn’t want to come home after only seeing one. The Old lighthouse is right on the water, which is nice. It is the oldest lighthouse in the Great Lakes and a true piece of history. Hopefully they open it up soon!

Ring the old bell and take pictures of someone in the 'stocks'. Nice museum in the lighthouse keepers house. Built in 1850. Great views of Lake Huron and Presque Isle Harbor. Good hiking in the area. We love it! We weren't able to go last year because of Covid, but have gone every year for decades in the summer.

Beautifully located lighthouse.

It’s separated from the building, which is not very common thing.

Surrounded by the trees from the shore and very stony beach from the lake.

The conical shape of the tower is the one I like the most.

It’s “must see” object for all lighthouse fans.

I recommend it.

This might be my new favorite lighthouse in Michigan! The lighthouse is super neat, but it's awesome that they let you into the house free of charge. The bell is a really cool added touch too. My favorite thing though were the views and the beach!

We stopped at the Old Presque Isle Lighthouse during our holiday trip up the northeast coast of Michigan. We arrived early in the morning. The property was well cared for and the docent in the keeper's house was very knowledgeable and a joy to talk with. She provided a lot of history about the light house and the surrounding area. After the lighthouse was decommissioned, it became a private residence. The local historic society has provided period furnishings and has provided great care to preserve this location. For a small fee ($3), you can climb the restored light house and for an additional fee ($2) you can climb both the old lighthouse and the new Presque Isle Lighthouse. Views of Lake Huron from the top are spectacular.

The painters were making the lighthouse fresh and clean. They were doing an excellent job. The innkeepers house was a gift shop as well as history of the house.
Well preserved.

Worth the trip with some great folk lore and a spectacular bell that must just be rung... we had a great visit.

Love the setting in which this lighthouse is located. Although the grounds are small compared to the New Presque Isle Lighthouse, this particular lighthouse is worth a visit. There are very steps to climb to get to the top of the lighthouse if you choose to go up. Even though there are small signs telling you the cost of climbing, we totally missed reading them until we descended. (We paid after climbing....I have a feeling people climb without paying.) There is a small mini-museum and a very small gift shop on the premises. A huge bell that visitors can ring is located on the grounds. You can walk down to the lake from this lighthouse. I believe there used to be a larger stone walkway to the lake but with the higher water levels I think part of that walkway is under water.
