Whispering Pines is a very nice course. Some of the hole designs are incredible. I am not a long hitter, but straight. Because of this, I do not find it tight, but most people do. The front 9 plays around homes, and only on #8 (and maybe #1 and #10) do the homes EVER come in play, and only then for sloppy slicing drivers or 2nd shot hookers. And this is because left is OB on #8. The back nine is more spacious, and it feels like you are up north or maybe in North Carolina. The greens are consistent and very fair. My only minor complaint is that sometimes the greenskeeper seems to drop too much fertilizer or forget to water.... and the first few fairways get burnt every June. This needs to be STOPPED in 2022!!!!

The par 3s are all terrific and very different. In order, the first par 3 requires an up-hill short to mid iron, the next takes an up-hill LOOOONG iron or wood, the next is over wetlands and takes a mid to long iron, and the last is a slightly up-hill short iron. You will NOT hit the same basic 5 or 6 iron on every par 3! (I hit a 6 or 7, then a 3 iron or 5 wood, then a 3 or 4 iron, and then a 7 or 8 iron. FUN!)

My favorite hole on the the course is #10 -- a short dog leg right that penalizes too long straight drives and slices... all you need is a 180-200 yard drive and a sand or pitching wedge... but I have seen people shoot 10 on this fun little hole!

The clubhouse is fine, though the last 2 years have been tough because good people are likely hard to keep because of Covid. Overall this course is the best kept secret and value in Livingstone County. But it's worth a drive!

The golf is enjoyable for many levels of ability. Playing from the Senior tees makes it a lot more fun to feel like pars are doable. The course is tight, lots of trees and ponds, now if you’re a straight ball hitter no worries. They have banquet facilities and host many functions.Thursday evenings is band night and dinners are available. We like their pizza.

Hadn't played Whispering Pines in a few years but did get the opportunity to play June 4th. It was a bad decision. Initially it was a lot of minor stuff. Upon arrival the coffee machine was out of coffee and the attendant had no idea how to service it. Ok, no big deal. As we played it appeared course maintenance has been neglected. I noticed un-repaired divot holes everywhere. They had no water for sale on the sales cart. Ok, all minor stuff And then the whopper. As we made the turn, they were in the process of allowing a outing of 20 plus players to tee off on number 10. They asked us to go forward to number 16 and then come back to 10. After we played number 18, the outing was still on the 10th tee. We left, with a promise never to return.

Very reasonable prices and a fun golf course for all ages. Usually the home course for the Pinckney Pirate Men's Golf Team. Course is located within the neighborhood, so be careful of houses by the fairways.

Whispering Pines restaurant/pub was inconsistent for years. A refreshing and innovative change this summer. Pannini style as well as oven baked sandwiches. Toss in homemade pizza and their french bread pizza.....yum !! Don't be afraid to go back. Beautiful setting too.

My son and daughter-in-law were married here and had the reception in the clubhouse. It was absolutely gorgeous! Being married on the first tee off looking over the valley was breath taking. The hexagonal shape of the clubhouse allowed for a dining area, cake cutting area, band area and dancefloor, and separate bar. The outer patio was perfect for smokers or sitting out under the stars while folks danced.
The wedding planner didn't miss a detail. The guys changed in the locker room of the clubhouse while the gals had an upstairs room. The food was unbelievably delicious.
Now for the BIGGEST PLUSES of this venue......
IF it had rained, there was an upstairs room that could accomodate the guests for an indoor ceremony. They would see to it that everything would got moved and would work.
The cost per person included the meal, ALL drinks, the venue, table linens and chair bows in your colors, the planner, the staff, a golf cart for the new couple to drive around while the photographer followed, the changing rooms, AND access to the "decorating" room that was filled with candles, vases, decor etc. I am sure there were other perks, that I may have failed to mention. This made planning the wedding easy.... all that was left to book were the photographer, band, florist, and invitations. Check this place out!

This is a fun, and challenging golf course. On the back nine you get the feeling of being up north, and the 14th through the 17th is the A-men corner.

Whispering Pines is a good place to relieve tension by walking around beating up on a little ball. The doarse has a medium complexity level for some long farways. The Greens are fast with some pretty tough angles.

I always enjoy this course. You got to hit it straight. Number 10 is the best. If you hit a high fade of the tee you will be putting for an eagle. If not a penalty is guaranteed. Be aware at the 18th green, if you park your cart on the path the young vultures will clean your clubs while you putt. Park the cart on the grass to the left of the green. When your done go straight to your car. Avoid the awkwardness of not tipping!
