Have an extra hour while visiting the Petoskey area? Art lovers will enjoy the eclectic collections housed in this former church. The lovely stained glass windows are glorious on sunny days.

Very nice, I think a lot of visitors don’t realize it’s there, it’s inside of a former beautiful Methodist Church.
Also has restrooms.

On Saturdays the center offers art projects for the community. We were in town to visit Petoskey. Even our 2 year old was able to participate in the fun art work. The teacher was awesome and provided aid when needed.

Highly recommend it.

We went a couple of times in November, once for a Swirl, which is a quaint community gathering of sorts, and once for a concert. The concert area is very intimate and we were able to talk to the band on the break. Grab a beer, take your seat and have a wonderful time?

A converted church with an a theater, an Art Gallery, spaces for Pottery and music classes. The building itself is very cool and well designed. However the curation is pretty poor. They have 2 larger gallery spaces on main floor along with a hallway with displayed art. Also a small gallery in basement and also the classrooms. Now here's the problem they had the 2 large galleries empty at the same time while they exchange exhibits. Except they are taking their sweet time. Also why do both at once. Also bottom gallery seemed like an afterthought with only a few pieces. Not well curated at all. The service was also non-existent. Only worker was on phone the entire time. Overall a 2 star.

I have a unique skill. I’ll look at almost any piece of art and think “I’d pay X dollars for that”. Then I look at the tag and the price is almost exactly 10X. Crooked Tree defeats my skill. The prices are reasonable! Santa Fe may have 100 galleries but I prefer this one to the whole group.

In a big city you expect an expansive art center/museum but Petoskey only has 6,000 full timers and the county is not huge at around 35,000. Of course, those numbers go to 2 or 3 X in the summer with full credit to weather, water, golf and Crooked Tree. When you have enjoyed all the shopping and ice cream, pay a visit to this jewel that features national shows and local artists.

And so welcoming. And did I mention free? We saw 2 fiber exhibits, teacher and her students and a faculty exhibit from the local community college. All three were worthwhile. There were also works of local artists for sale. For us, more for looking than for purchase. This is an expensive area and art is no exception. The center hosts many activities and we saw a very nice theater space. Check this place out.

I love Victorian architecture and to be able to view the inside is a bonus. This in itself is a gorgeous church, the stained glass windows, the woodwork, the carved trusses at the ceiling. Then top it off with the interesting array of unusual artwork in all different mediums. Plus they have nice restrooms in the basement. They have a lot of classes offered for the public in music and forms of art. Some classes were in session when we were there and looked like fun.
