This is our third year in a row coming back to float with Greg and Pentwater Outfitters.
He always takes the time to make sure our gear is well suited for each person and that we are comfortable in the kayaks. This guy is always cleaning and working around his little shop when not out dropping off or picking up customers.
The river ride is always fun. Today we saw a snake, a HUGH blue heron and a deer. The deer actually swam across the small river right in front of us! Very cool!
We will be back in 2021 for more time with Pentwater Outfitters and the Greg.

This was first time kayaking, and they were awesome. They gave super good instructions, and let us go as long as we choose. We went 3 hours and had a blast!

My daughters entered the establishment to visit the restroom, but after we looked around the shop and talked with Gregg, we decided to try kayaking, which is something we'd never done. We came back the next day, and Gregg and his wife suggested we wait to go out on the river, due to the bad weather. We came back a day later, the weather was indeed better, and we were taken out to the Pentwater River. A guide named Shane helped us. My daughters needed no help, but i capsized twice. Eventually I got the hang of it. I really enjoyed the trip and hope to do it again the next time we are up in Pentwater. I was impressed with the owners and Shane, their dedication to the sport and to making sure the people who get involved have a great experience. As I said, I did capsize, but that was totally my fault.

Our family had a excellent experience with this company. We showed up without making reservations wanting to go river kayaking for a couple of hours. The people were very friendly and provided lots of helpful information about the area. They were able to provide us with 2 double kayaks immediately and we were on the river within 30 minutes. We have an 8 and 10 year old and they had a blast kayaking down the river. We were on the water for about 2 hours. The river had a bit of a current so you only really had to paddle to steer the boat. When we finished there was no waiting around. We just left the equipment at the boat ramp and they came and pick it up. I can't imagine having a better experience. We will definitely use them again.

My wife and I stayed in the Pentwater, Michigan area earlier this summer (June), near this wonderful lakeside town. We wanted to look into renting Kayaks to paddle in Lake Pentwater, as well as Lake Michigan and the many rivers nearby. We discovered the “sit on top” Kayaks that Pentwater River Outfitters had for sale (they rent standard Kayaks as well as bicycles). I was very interested to compare the sit on top experience to the regular Kayaks. The store owner was very accommodating, letting me take out one of the new for sale only sit on tops with a regular kayak for the afternoon. This allowed me to truly test both styles out and decide which would be best for my wife and me. They didn’t have to do this, but they did. When the time comes to buy a kayak, I certain will give them my business. In the meantime, if you are looking for a great place to rent a bike or a kayak, and are in the Pentwater, MI area, look this place up – very helpful and very friendly.

Our children ages 5,9,11 had a great time kayaking with us up river and back again. Took two hours. Beautifully clean river and we basically had it all by ourselves. Gregg was amazingly safety conscious and made sure we all knew what we were doing. We highly recommend this business. We had an amazing day.

Bonnie was so helpful, ensuring our entire family had exactly what we needed. We had a great time. The equipment was in perfect working order, the views were great and everyone enjoyed a couple hours on the river. I would definitely do this again!

My family and I wanted to go kayaking during our trip to Michigan. I am so glad in retrospect that we chose to rent kayaks and go on a river trip rather than Lake Michigan which can be choppy and unpredictable. This nice calm river trip was perfect for us! I husband and I and our nine-year-old daughter rented two kayaks. My daughter and I were in a tandem and my husband in a single. We went about an hour upstream and the trip back with the current took about 45 minutes. Greg was about the nicest guy you could ask for to figure out your needs and get you set up! I’d recommend calling and scheduling your trip in advance. We went the day of and ended up finding an open slot a few hours later in the day. If you are a beginner, no worries, he has great advice and will find you a nice, mellow portion of the river to paddle. It’s a pretty, and serene trip. We did not see other paddlers and the water was probably 3-5 feet deep. Very enjoyable trip!

Excellent drop off service, craft in good condition, the owners took great trouble to ensure craft fitted correctly and that two novice kayakers felt safe. Highly recommended, would go back again.
