An admission fee is charged or a Michigan Recreation Passport is required for entry. The falls are a modest walk from the parking area and gift shop. No elevation changes are encountered along the wide, paved path. Most of this path is shaded by trees.

There are several vantage points with distant views of the [Upper] Tahquamenon Falls, which – on the date of this visit – were large in size with a large water flow. From another viewpoint, a long portion of the Tahquamenon River and a gorge are seen. Other viewpoints have various views of the falls.

It is a modest walk down nearly 100 steps – with numerous stair landings – to a deck that is fairly close to the brink of the falls. The signage was good along the paths. This is a site which can be seen fairly quickly, if necessary.

Tahquamenon Falls are always beautiful and always worth the visit. There is a well marked path to the falls with several viewing areas of the falls from above that are easily accessible for everyone. The park provides free wheelchairs for visitors who have difficultly walking. There are roughly 94 stairs down to the falls for those who can manage stairs which bring the falls up close. They are stunning. They also have a restaurant next to the parking lot for a meal or a drink to relax while visiting.

Easy well paved walkways and boardwalks at both locations. Drivable between them. Well marked by signs.

Upper Falls
Easy wide path with a number of look out points. 94 steps down with handrails to viewing platform for better view. It’s 1/4 mile each way. You can see falls from look out points as well. There’s also a store & area to buy food & eat. There was a man playing the guitar in the center sitting area.

Lower falls
1/2 mile to main look out point .. with a second look out for next smaller fall up about 200 feet & then you can continue into the bridge. Bridge is 1/4 past look out platform (so 3/4 from start).
Well paved paths. There are a few looks out areas along the way.
Both are accessible to anyone.
They are starting to build a gift shop and bathroom that will be nice once done.

Short walk to see Upper Falls, then short drive and beautiful walk to Lower Falls.
Due to low water we were able walk across stream to island (otherwise accessed by cheap boats)--highly recommend.
There were all kinds of places to swim, even sit under a water fall!

went on Labor Day so the park was extremely packed...lots of spots for viewing, wish we would have rented a row boat to take to the island, but was very windy day. although lots of paths to falls, there were areas with several stairs.

We visited Tahquemenon on a short detour while driving from Munising into Canada at the Soo. It was well worth it and although we all preferred the Upper Falls, the Lower Falls are worth seeing too. Not much more to say except that the Restroom facilities at both sites were immaculate.

The falls were picturesque, and since we visited in the late afternoon, they were not very crowded. This attraction does seem like something that can be very busy during the middle of the day. We hiked both the upper and lower falls, but we did not hike between them. The trails were well-maintained and easy to walk. The new bridge that links to the mid-river island was a nice feature that makes the island loop hike easily accessible.

After living in Michigan for 44 years I finally got to see the famous Tahquamenon Falls. The location is remote but nevertheless a huge mob of people was there and parking areas were full with cars parked everywhere. The walk to the Upper Falls was not that far and ended with a 94 step staircase down to the falls viewing area. The falls were pretty and looking downstream the view was beautiful. There were many out of state cars there so I guess the falls are nationally known.
We also visited the lower falls but that was not very interesting.

Visited this falls before but it was in the late fall a couple years ago so this summer day was a treat. the roar is unforgettable along with the view so its recommended to video along with pictures. this is natures beauty and has an excellent viewing platform close to the falls itself, just a short walk from the gift shop and concession building. the trails are well marked and there are several other good spots for picture taking. shoes are advised

We love visiting Tahquamenon Falls State Park. Getting to the Upper Falls from the parking lot is a short walk, and there are washrooms at the start of the trail. Where the trail ends, you can take a left or a right. If you take a left and follow the signs for the Gorge View, there are 116 steps down to a boardwalk, where you have a great view. If you take a right at the end of the trail and follow the signs for the Brink View, there are 94 steps down to a viewing area and more awesome views of the Upper Falls. Unless you are taking one of the longer hikes (4.8 miles to the Lower Falls or the 3.8 mile Giant Pines Loop trail), note that you have to go back up the same way you came down for both the Gorge View and the Brink View. There's a gift shop near the parking lot and you can get food and have a drink (alcoholic or otherwise)!

The trail to the Lower Falls is also a beautiful walk. It's a short walk from the parking lot to a viewing area, which is close to washrooms and a gift shop, but you can walk a bit further where you're right up close to the Lower Falls and can feel the spray!
