After seeing several paintings by Owosso native Frederick Carl Frieseke in museums around Michigan and elsewhere, I wanted to learn more about the artist and where he grew up, so a stop at the Shiawassee Arts Center was a must! Their Frieseke Gallery holds several original works by the highly regarded American Impressionist artist Frieseke, including "Along the Shiawassee" and "Lady with a Sunshade", plus several fine art prints of works held in other museums or featured in exhibitions. So nice to learn more about the artist and see some additional works. (We also stopped by his boyhood home a few blocks away.) The Center also features a collection of art by local artists or of local interest. At the time of our visit, the Center has just opened a new exhibition featuring five Michigan artists; there were some lovely affordable paintings from each artist. The Center's gift shop is a wonderful place to shop for art from paintings and ceramics to jewelry, cards, and other handmade crafts for your home or for gifts. Definitely worth a visit!!

We visited the Shiawassee Arts Center at Christmas time. They had nice holiday displays and lots of seasonal art and crafts for sale. It was a bright day with blue sky and sunshine, and the view of the river out the back windows was very nice. Pricing was reasonable for the things that were for sale, and the items were nice. Parking was easy, the arts center was not crowded even though it was a Sunday afternoon, and we had a very nice experience.

Couple was not able to get a church wedding and so the wedding was held here. very limited space so alot of the guest could not attend the ceremony portion. But location was wide open lots of beautiful natural light. Clean, friendly staff to help direct people. Artwork and stuff within the centre also looked very nice.

This is a beautiful Art Center on the Shiawassee river in Historic Owosso, Michigan. Lots of great art and art classes there. The center is located right next to James Curwood's Castle where he wrote many famous books. Lots to see and do.

I never seem to leave here empty-handed. They have a variety of artist's creations for sale at all times and feature different artists each month. Creative offerings in a beautiful setting.

We came to this great little museum because Owosso is the home town of Frederick Frieseke, who after going to art school, went to France to paint and hang out with the great impressionists, including Monet. This museum owns several of his original oils on canvas and a number of prints. The museum in a historic building is beautifully modern inside with the art attractively displayed in many small rooms. Staff is friendly and helpful.
We were pleasantly surprised to visit the museum during their annual holiday art market. This is one of the best in the midwest. There are hundreds of works in a variety of media by over 90 artists. The art is unique, well done, and reasonably priced. Of course we purchased. We will make this an annual trip. Do not miss this holiday market.

This little art center packs a punch! The art work and crafts are beautifully and artistically displayed. You wander from room to room and find new treasures. Prices on artwork are very reasonable--they even shipped mine to my home. The Center is in a gorgeous setting right adjacent to the Shiawassee River--so peaceful with benches scattered by the banks where you can rest and watch rafters float down the river. All in all, my favorite place in Owosso! Don't miss this one!

Lots of cool things to look at and experience here! Its cool to look at work by several different artists, including Frederick Carl Frieseke, who was a Impressionist painter native to Owosso born in 1874. Great history, and great art! highly recommended if you are a patron of art.
