The kids loved the mini sleuce and found some good stuff. The dinosaur walk was a nice loop through the woods. Putt putt was not super robust but solid. A costly trip but the front office was really great and we enjoyed our time here.

Dinosaur Gardens is a unique place for youngsters located on US-23 in Ossineke between Harrisville & Alpena. The park consists of different very large statues of dinosaurs, all of which can be touched by kids. It was developed back in the fifties by one sculptor who created all the large statues by hand...no power tools. The current owners do a good job of keeping the park and trail clean. You walk along a hard packed gravel path (hard to push an umbrella stroller) through the woods and it took a good 30 minutes to complete the trip. There was a statue about every 50 feet. There were also a lot of mosquitos but the shade provided nice relief from the sun. The kids did love dinsosaur gardens and it was a lot bigger than we expected. Also there were some pretty graphic dinosaur fighting scenes but we just walked past those and our kids being so young did not even notice. We ended up eating a picnic lunch there by the little river that runs through since the grounds were so well kept. Be aware that the park admission only takes cash--no credit cards! The park also offers a putt-putt course but we did not play. Make sure to visit the large Flights of Imagination park across the road (the castle playground as my kids call it).

This is a great place to take any child interested in dinosaurs. Some of the exhibits were a little worn down, which is to be expected with this type of attraction. With that being said my nephews and niece were very impressed with the displays. And they totally exceeded their expectations. I would go here again.

We took our 2 year old grand son here for his birthday. a few of the exhibits were broken. The putt putt golf was challenging for the adults in our group.

Yes, this isn't a cheap place to go to but our 5 year old grandson loves dinosaurs so we went and decided to make an afternoon of it.
First we walked through the 1/2 mile park with the dinosaurs and descriptions interspersed every so far. This didn't take long since climbing isn't allowed on the dinosaurs but it was nice to be out there. Next we ate our picnic lunch at one of the tables and after he took part in the miner's sluice we all went inside for some frozen yogurt. Putt putt golf and a fossil dig are also available either alone or as part of a package. All-in-all I'm glad that we went.

Throwback to America before the freeways.... handmade large dinosaurs most built over 70 years ago - along a 1/2 mile wooded trail (81 year old attraction). Each dinosaur has a plaque with information. This is great for little kids; ones that have seen dinosaur cartoons or played with toy dinosaurs - man, watch their eyes light up and see them run around the place. Great craftsmanship - built to last, and nearly all have been freshly painted and repaired. There's one dinosaur you can climb up into!

Besides the dinosaurs - there's miniature golf - which is just so-so - and a gold rush type thing. Gift shop has ice cream and frozen yogurt.

Plan an hour...

When I was a child my family visited this concrete dinosaur park, and I recently returned with my siblings. The owners are newish, and the shop and grounds have been well maintained or restored. This is (one of the last) old-school, tourist trappy and kitchy attractions, but presents the sculptures just as they were when I last walked it in the 60's. Though you won't get state-of-paleo authenticity you will have an unique experience with terrific photo setups. There is a nice gift shop with many dinosaur related books and toys. Highly recommended!

Obscure Kitsch: I am about it. I loved this place, even in spite of the bugs and pollen. It is just so delightfully WEIRD. The history behind Dinosaur Gardens is fascinating, and I really enjoyed getting to check out the sculptures, up close and personal. Pretty amazing when you consider that one man made all the original sculptures in the park! This seems like a good place for families, as they have ice cream, panning for fossils, and a miniature golf course. I love mini-golf and to be honest, my partner and I probably would have played a round, except it was just SO HOT the day we went; we were zapped after the walking tour. If you like retro tacky roadside attractions, this is your bag.

This is a classic tourist site! It's 81 years old. The dinosaurs were all very well maintained and painted nicely. The paths are easy to walk and the forest grounds well maintained. Loved the history bits and old pictures. It might not look like much from the roadside, but surprisingly nice! Our kids loved it!
