This steam boat does not operate during winter, as the lake is frozen. On board there is a narrator who tells of the historic spots to see. There is also a snack bar. Souvenirs are available at the ticket corner.
My husband and I booked a 4pm tour on a Sunday. We arrived at 3:45pm and people were already lined up to board, but we did not leave until 4:30pm. Not sure why. The boat could use some maintenance and the tables were sticky. The...More
This is my first one-star rating on Trip Advisor. My husband and I booked a trip on the Au Sable River Queen a couple months in advance as we were told this trip sells out. As we were driving to Oscoda, we called to confirm...More
I love taking the River Boat Queen in the Fall when all the leaves are in full color! What a colorful display there is! . Seats enough people, snacks and beverages on board. The Captain tells about this river while touring with his ship! She...More

This was a little hidden gem in Oscoda, MI. The boat is a little old school which I liked and it was recently remolded. There were plenty of snacks and it even had a bar on the upper level. The Au Sable river is absolutely...More
Just returned from a trip to northern Michigan. Drove down to the River Queen from Hubbard Lake for an afternoon cruise down the river after being cooped up due to lots of rain last week. It took about 50 minutes from the north end of...More

Under the heading "things to do" in Oscoda this was nice as part of our color tour this fall. The weather was cold and windy so the windows had to remain open which made for a very chilly beginning. As the wind settled we were...More

I live in this area. Nothing right by the boat, but approximately 12-15 miles to the east, along US 23, in Oscoda, there are many resorts and cabins and motels to choose from. The only chain franchise is Amerinn which is the Au Sable River district, just south on US 23 as you enter from River Road. All the others are owned by locals and independents. Oscoda is in the Huron Scenic Drive area, so very touristy during the boat's season, so be sure to make a reservation ahead of time.
