If you are visiting the Porcupine Mountains this should be a must stop. The outside of the building does not do justice the the wonderful selection of rocks and minerals inside the store. They carry both local rocks and minerals as well as a wide assortment from around the world. My wife and I found many "must have items>' The staff was friendly and very helpful.

We have come to love rock hunting in Michigan, but while beach combing is fun, seeing the types of rocks and gems that the professionals collect is a real inspiration! We were so glad that we had read a recommendation for this store. They had a huge selection of local rocks and minerals, like agate, Petoskey stones and raw and finished copper, as well as more exotic samples. The people working there, one of which I believe was the owner, obviously loved sharing what they knew, and were very helpful. Browsing was a blast, but I think it would be hard to walk out empty handed! Their prices and pieces ranged broadly enough that a causal shopper could find an affordable and unique souvenir, but a more serious collector would also be happy with the selection!

The shop also had a room for books and other local items, as well as a huge selection of candles from the Upper Peninsula Candle Company. They smelled great, but we spent our money on rocks!

Since it was raining all day, I told him he had to take me shopping! ;)

We must have spent an hour browsing the shelves & shelves of rocks. They were very nicely organized.
Very enjoyable!

They have an excellent selection of pieces as rock shops go and the staff were eager to please. They were incredibly patient as I shopped and ask many questions.

Very pleasant and helpful staff were knowledgeable without being pretentious. Quite an assortment of items for sale. I found the different elemental metal cubes unique.

The outside of this place does not indicate the multiude of treasures within. Was very impressed with all they had, the variety & prices. Mostly all hand made & locally made items.

This shop has many specimens from the mines of Upper Michigan. Some are spectacular. They also have a selected collection of minerals and fossils from around the world for sale. Some are quite unique. Prices are also reasonable. The shop
has a large variety of jewelry, polished stones, and other souvenirs. If you can't find something here---you are too picky. There are also T-shirts and books on rocks.
Friendly and knowledgeable, the staff will remember you from year to year. And---unlike some shops, the stock changes from year to year. GOOD PLACE!
