50-60 is accurate for the tower; I'm going to say it's more like over 100 steps for the upper section of the trail. I didn't personally count, but someone coming down told us they'd been counting and the number they mentioned was over 100 (sorry I can't remember the exact number they said). There is a viewing platform partway up with a very nice view of the surrounding mountains if you can't make it all the way up!
