The three of us frequent visitors to nearby Stony Lake were thrilled to find one of our favorite spots open in light of COVID-19. Greg (the owner) greeted us at the door and ensured us he was operating under CDC guidelines and would be practicing social distancing during our visit. While taste testing was unavailable due to government restrictions, Greg did a great job of thoroughly describing his wines and helping us select the perfect pairs for our dinner (the dry, full-bodied red he recommended went perfectly with our asparagus brats from Mac’s Meats!). Greg also shared his future plans for a beautiful outdoor tasting/seating area that should be perfect during the summer. If you’re in the area, Oceana Winery & Vineyard is a must visit, and you have to try the Chardonel! (one of the best Chardonnay's we’ve had).

Enjoyed the woman preparing our tastings- fun personality. We enjoyed the outdoor space to drink our wine. Liked a couple of the dry wines. Parking was very difficult....almost left because we couldn't fit between two cars. Ended up parking along the single lane drive.

I've always enjoyed the wines from Oceana Winery (formerly Tartan Hill). The staff is also very personable.

My wife and I were welcomed into the tasting room by a friendly lady. She explained the wines in great detail and also made some small talk with us. We purchased several of there whites, not bad prices. Worth a stop if you're in the area.

The day we stopped they were not open. This is a family owned and operated winery. Owners very knowledgeable about their grapes and wines.

A Small winery with a great selection of wine. Both red and white wines are available at this winery, but I suggest the Oceana Red. It is a sweet red wine but not too sweet.
There is a tasting room. However, it is small and intimate so only a couple could comfortably sample the wine at a time, without feeling crowded. When we have visited, we were the only ones there so this has not been a problem for us.

My wife and I visited their tasting room in Pentwater Michigan, but have not visited the winery/vineyards in New Era. We were introduced to their wines by one of the owners, and she was very pleasant and informative. Being from California, we were interested in the wines produced in the developing wine regions along Michigan's west coast and the Traverse Bay area. In the tasting process (both reds and whites, some of which had placed well in wine competitions in CA and TX), we were introduced to grape varieties we were totally unfamiliar with. Vignoles, Cayuga, and Traminette to name a few. Most of their wines are blends, some from estate grown grapes, others from various vineyards. We were pleasantly surprised by the wines and took 4 bottles home with us. The main lesson we learned was that Michigan wineries are producing some delightful wines, well beyond cherry wine. We recommend that people take the time to give these wines a try, you will not be disappointed.

Visited here for the first time, and was quite impressed. We were greeted by the owner, and the staff helped us through the wine tastings, keeping us informed as to what we were drinking, how it was made, and how it compares to other wines.
The prices were reasonable, $12-$19 a bottle, I bought a couple for the wife, and even bought one for myself, and I'm not a wine drinker! I found a oak aged dry red that I really liked.
Well worth the visit!

We visited Oceana while winery touring in Michigan this summer and I was astounded by the taste of the wine they were creating.
There was a wine simply called "Dry White" that tasted identical to a top-shelf Chardonnay. Even though the winery name was changed (wisely) to Oceana, the bottles still had the Tartan Hills lables on them. The winemaker happened to be in the tasting room and we had a long discussion on his work. This guy really knows his grapes and his chemistry and how to make wine. He said they were planning to re-name the wines also, and I agreed they deserve better names.
Go if you are more interested in the wine than winery.

I sent my parents here for their anniversary. They both have gotten more adventurous and love to wine taste. All they could talk about when they got home is what they had learned, how nice and attentive Renae was and how excited they are to go back and visit. They state that the wine was very tasty (as they brought home three bottles!) From the few conversations I had with Renae and from what my parents have said I would highly recommend stopping in!
