1) It smells like fish guts on the beach. We even walked all the way down to the "sandy" area. Lots of flies.
2) I think it's only interesting because of the lighthouse and the Le Martiniere ice cream shop. The beach is not sandy or has dunes or anything worth going to.
3) Dog poop
4) Visit but the beach itself is not the best
5) Go to Plage de Trousse-Chemise for a real beach experience. I read some random French Vogue article of some model or something that mentioned this beach - Baleines - not - worth - it.

Driving from the lighthouse, we passed by this beach and decided to have a look as there were several cars parked around. What a pleasant surprise. I told my family that we have to drive to our place about 15’ away and return as this was the top beach we found. Water was clear, nice waves ( I would have preferred higher ones) , temperature of water was about 18, middle of September, according to a local.
Sand perfect, dunes bordering , goes on for km and is just perfect. I

We cycled to this beautiful beach mid afternoon, through a lovely forest, and parked in a very busy car park area, thinking it would be very busy. The beach, however, was wide and long so there was a feeling of plenty of space.
The waves were quite lively but the sea was clean and clear. A lovely spot.

Great beach with a lack of people. Good for a quiet stroll. In a national park. Recommended if you like quiet places

This bustling cafe is in the Beziers market- I’ve been a few times but only on a Saturday when the market is open and it’s always busy. You must go before noon to get a table or reserve one- the locals all do. They come here to drink
The local rose wine and catch-up with their friends over some great food. The menu is on the board and it doesn’t change much but it doesn’t need to. Tapas includes fish pies from Sete, Serrano ham platters, mixed cheese platters ( not on the board- just ask), pâtes, all divine. There are mains (these go quickly) such as steaks, lamb chops or even egg, bacon and chips. There are also desserts but I’ve never had room for any. The chips are to die for- proper fresh potatoes fried several times (huge portions too and also not on the board) and the green salad is just the nicest, freshest lettuce in a glorious dressing- I could eat it all day. Great efficient service from cheery staff and a chance to see the French at their leisurely best. Love it!

Hard to know how to rate a beach. This is just a nice relaxing place to walk along and look out to the Atlantic.
Not likely you’ll sunbathe here but lots of people have made heart shapes out of pebbles with their lovers initials inside.

A beautiful, sandy, expansive beach. A very relaxing place to sunbathe and an easy bike ride from Saint Clement des Baleines.

We took the bus from Saint Martin which was just over half an hour and well worth the trip. The sea was lovely and warm and we had fun in the waves. Beautiful beach and you can see for miles more beautiful beach.

A stunningly beautiful beach well worth a visit. Right at one end of Ile de Re. A bit desolate but lovely all the same.

We went to this beach a few times during our stay. There are no bike racks, but bicycles can be chained to the timber fence. Plenty of free car parking too.
Several access points with wooden roll out temporary paths covering the very hot sand. Some naturist areas away from the access points. No cafe or facilities.
