The Jetee Jacobsen is a pedestrian way set in between the canal and the Marais du Mullenbourg. The Marais has many salt marshes where the locals produce the highly sought after Noirmoutier natural salt. The work is done by hand, as the Marais is a bird sanctuary. There are a few donkeys who act as silent "lawn mowers". As one walks along, there are many birds to watch depending on the season. Dry your eyes.. this is an amazing area for walking and biking. We had an easy family walk with children in all ages.. Start away from the city and enjoy the beautiful views as you are getting closer to the village.

Best way to get around is by cycling. Lots of outlets to hire one from. The unusual features are interesting with plenty of wildlife to observe. Stop and purchase some sea salt. It is delicious and very reasonably priced.

A gem of a place - you can cycle around the edges and spot the avocets easily. The smell is a bit overpowering when they dredge the marsh but the bird life obviously loves it. We enjoyed the warm cycle rides alongside the other gentle bikers and the sunsets across the marshes are worth waiting for.…
