NIce zoo with an impressive variety of exotics considering it is a small private zoo - Animals seemed to have large enclosures. Seemed a little pricey at $15 each to enter though for its size.

Visiting Garlyn Zoo has been on our list for awhile and we finally went. We spent two hours enjoying all of the animals. Most people might take less time, but we like to take our time. The animals were well-taken care of, the zoo is in a beautiful wooded setting with wood mulch trails, the staff was working hard and the variety of animals was amazing. We had a great time! The $15 entry seems a little high but we feel it was money well-spent.

Garlyn Zoo is in the middle of nowhere on the northern coast of Lake Michigan in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It's about 40 minutes out of St Ignace. The zoo has an incredible number of species that have no business being in northern Michigan - Lions, Tigers, Hyenas, Alligators, Camels, etc. I wonder what they do with them in the winter? The animals seem well fed and comfortable. You can feed domestic animals too. There is an unexpected number of species from around North America as well, such as Cougars, Bears, Wolves, Coyotes, Foxes, Buffalo. Definitely worth the stop. One dissappointment, we were there during Covid-19 pandemic. Most of the customers were not wearing masks, even though the spaces can be tight making social distancing difficult. We did our part and wore our mask to protect others and us, please do the same.

We saw this zoo on US2 while driving thru the UP. What a great gem. It is small to mid-size zoo. Very relaxing to walk around to see the animals as you are walking basically in the woods. Loved the lions, tigers and bears and everything else. Having all the different varieties of chickens wandering around was great. I would recommend stopping for a visit.

We loved the zoo! We were a little skeptical at first, but so glad we stopped. Free range birds are all around, makes you feel in the zoo. Loved the black swans and big cats. Great place to visit.
