One of the most beautiful discoveries of nature in the French Hautes Pyrenees. Leaving the Val d'Azun via the town-centre of Luz St-Sauveur (start of the Tourmalet-climb) you take the route to the right towards Gavarnie/St-Sauveur. Upon arriving at the Gavarnie-village you can leave your...More

Breath taking. A long, tough walk for two pensioners, but we made it. It was well worth the struggle. The scenery on the way was very interesting. The cattle, ponies and donkeys lent themselves to the environment.

Cirque De Gavarnie is definitely a very impressive place to visit!! We were there as part of a 4X4 trip through the Spanish and French Pyrenees. One of the advantages of doing a 4X4 vehicle trip is that you can get away from the usual...More

This is truly a beautiful part of the Pyrenees that you can get up close to and enjoy... a lot of people think so too! So, if you get the weather for it, arrive early. This will not only allow you to walk in to...More

Worth the trek up the valley to see the waterfall. But it is very popular so don't think it will be quiet and peaceful. It is a long walk and you need good footwear... but you can hire horses for part of the journey if...More

To start with this place is very accessible - and there by immensely popular. Huge crowds of ill prepared sunday walkers walk the 45-60 mins from the parking lot up the wide track to the cirque and the waterfall. We took the side track up...More

Nice circus but wrong name. Very crowded. Queues. The waterfall is spectacular though. Worth it, but ideally out of season.

Wouldn't have liked to miss this one! What starts as a 'simple' walk, ends in a physical challenge in the last part to the waterfalls. The beautiful surrounding and challenge not to underestimate makes it really worthwhile. Walked this route with my two suns of...More

Get there as early as you can otherwise you'll be parking some way from the village and sharing any walk with hundreds of people. Check the weather, but don't be put off if you arrive (as we always do) at Lourdes under heavy cloud..... Gavarnie...More
