We were visiting Rochefort-en-Terre with a small group tour in Brittany with Best of France Travels. one spot was the Notre Dam de la Tronchaye. It is fascinating small historic church with all the charm you would expect. .

This small church is perfect for Rochefort-en-Terre. The Gothic architecture with some Roman influence results in a charming setting. Enjoy the carved wood statues and the simple beauty of Notre-Dame-de-la-Tronchaye.

A beautiful example of a local church modified over time in different styles, from pure Gothic through to the Renaissance. Some fine painted wooden sculptures are displayed on the pillars, and an early 12th. c. (?) image of the Virgin.

Why does this get my vote for the most beautiful church I’ve seen in France? ( I’m on my 12th trip to France)! Because of the size, an intimate little church, not overwhelming... Because of the beautiful ancient wood carvings.... Because of the most beautiful...More

Not being an expert in churches, I like visiting old churches for the architecture (and shade in summer). This is a lovely church to see.

I loved this church. What I liked most was the stained glass window of a woman finding the statue of the Virgin Mary and child in a tree. It's vibrant colours and delightful composition allowed me to find a moment of peace.

Some nice stained glass and a place to sit for a few minutes of quiet reflection in the cool of the church

Rochefort en-Terre is like a painting inside which you're walking! So beautiful, so clean, so historic. It's a place you'd like to stay in and not look at the cruel watch...

There are old churches but this is a good one. Old, dark and full of historic atmosphere. I'm not sure about the old bones and skulls which makes it a bit goth. Don't miss the tomb stones which have been used to pave the steps...More
