We stopped in at three or four State Parks along the Lake Michigan Shoreline. This was by far the nicest and least crowded. If we had it to do again and could only stop at one - this would be it!

I will probably not be back after the first visit. First of all, there were a lot of mosquitos when we went during the last weekend of May. Then, parking lot and the beach had quite a distance to walk. Lastly, there are a lot...More

This park is mostly for great camping, but coming on for a few hours brings total enjoyment as well. The beach is very accessible, much closer to the parking lot than most. The path is quite flat to the lookout, and the way down to...More

We enjoyed their shaded sites- plenty of trees and not too crowded. The bathrooms and showers were very clean- it was slightly annoying that the staff came to clean at 9:00 am and at 10:00 pm and shut the facilities down right as people were...More

I would choose the trails over the beach for this park. On crowded summer weekends, the beach looked very packed.. But the backdunes and trails were nice and quite ( I just gave out the best kept secret). Try hiking to the back dunes (...More

There was a path all the way down to a beautiful sandy beach, the beach was clean of any debris and had beautiful sand, there were some sand dunes as well. The swimming area was marked off with buoys. It was gorgeous and not overcrowded.

We took a wrong turn and found this park. What a pretty place! We walked out on the pier and really enjoyed the sights.

The showers are cleaned twice a day and there is always hot water. The showers are private and water pressure is good. There are always activities for the kids by the host family and a great playground. The campground sells ice and firewood. No fireworks...More

Our family of four, including our teen son and daughter, stayed in a rental next to the park. We were able to hike outside our back door into the park, leading us directly to Lake Michigan beach. The trails we used were not difficult and...More

Yes, certain times. Love the trails! The dunes create some shelter from the winds of the lake and the views are breathtaking. I would call The park for specifics.

There is a restroom and changing area in the swim beach parking lot. From the parking lot there is a short trek down some stairs (or a ramp) to get to the beach.
