Found this by chance. Not much advertising compared to USS Silverside. Kind of a home made museum. Yes, could be more professional but i liked the volunteer spirit. One could spend several hours when going in all detail. We spent about one hour. Ideally I would have appreciated a guided tour. The self guiding for is also ok though.

We visited this museum as family and really enjoyed it. There is always something new to learn and if you are patriotic or a veteran, you will definitely appreciate this museum.

The ship itself was interesting and fun to explore. Compared to other ship museums we have visited this one is pretty rustic. Many of the exhibits are home made and there was no flow or theme to follow as you travel through the ship. The museum is all self guided and the sign postings of where to go were poor.... More

We recently attended one of the movies on deck on a Friday night and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. We returned the next night to watch fireworks from the deck, what an experience. Everyone was polite and friendly and there is no better place to spend a summer evening overlooking Muskegon Lake.

This is a very informative floating museum, and I loved that is it self guided. You can walk all over this ship and see artifacts and read alot of info about the ship. It gets hot inside so dress cool.

I had such a good time going back into my element! Since it is now a museum and was a car ferry for years a lot has been done to her, but I was thrilled to see so much like it was then! Great job taking care of her.

What was it like at sea on a ship during WW2? Well, you can answer that and many other questions on board the LST 393. Take the time to look at the pictures of the people that served our country. Look at the equipment, living spaces, medical, engineering spaces, after steering, shaft alleys, pilot house, chain locker, and much more.... More

This is a non-guided tour of a WW2 LST. You would think that most of the museum would be naval in theme, it really wasn't. They have a nice wide array of artifacts and displays. This is a good "side-stop" that should take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours to fully enjoy. Definitely not a "destination" trip but fun to... More

Great exhibits well laid out and very educational. I spent a year on a sister ship LST 821 in the late 60's brought back lots of memories. You do not have to be a gator navy sailor to enjoy this great old lady

We decided to go here on a whim. My daughters, 9 and 17, both enjoyed it greatly! They each got their own experience from it. It has many great artifacts which were donated by soldiers and their families. This is a great place to go for a walk back into our country's history!
