We 2 sisters from Traverse City in Muskegon for the Unity Christian Music Festival visited this beach one late afternoon. We swam in the crystal clear waters here and walked out on the pier to the light. Very beautiful and not many people on a Friday! The water was shallow for a ways and pure sand, no rocks! Wow! Saw some neat boats coming and going through the channel. Really glad we checked this place out. Parking for 24 hours cost us $10 at the kiosk, but lots of parking spaces and right at the beach. The Deck BBQ & Beer is next to this beach for good lunch or dinner and drinks. Highly recommend driving here and seeing the beauty, and we have gorgeous water and beachfront where we live up north!

Two grandparents, two parents and two boys (ages 6 1/2 and 2 1/2) spent three hours on July 3 at Pere Marquette. We were north of the deck protected by the stone jetties from riptides. The sand is very soft and it is not deep well out into the lake. Very safe and not too crowded as it is more family-oriented at that part of the beach. There are fire pits available also. Highly recommended beach!

We came here to see the sun set on a warm July evening and were not disappointed. The sun going into Lake Michigan created gorgeous colors. The walk to the lighthouse was newly redone in early 2020 and was safe, clean, and lined with big rocks to protect you from the waves. We were able to take great pictures of the setting sun. On the beach, the bathrooms were clean and private, a perfect place to relieve yourself during COVID-19.

A wide and beautiful beach with lots of room to spread out and enjoy some time on lake Michigan. Lots to see and do- 2 lighthouses, 2 piers, volleyball courts, walking paths, on site restrooms, an on site eatery. Lot's of parking, $5 per day per car. We really enjoyed coming here and found it quite easy to keep our distance from just about everyone! There are many places in this park to come and enjoy watching the sunset.

This was one of the most awesome beaches I have ever been to. The waves were small and crashing on the rocks, people were swimming and surfing. The waverunners stayed far enough out to not scare anyone, and the sunset over the pier was wonderful.

We have to drive down here often for our Lake Michigan fix. Many parking places, free for now, and abundant sugar clean sand (let's keep it that way). To get to the dog beach, one needs to drive west on Sherman to Kruse Park (also called Bronson Park by sentimental older persons who remember the real reason it was called Bronson). The road close to Lake Michigan called the "curve" is temporarily (hopefully) closed between Beachwood park & Pere Marquette park...due to severe erosion from end of 2019 Lake Michigan waves. Please go to Grand Haven beaches, if you want more crowds, and limited tight parking that may cost.

We visited the beach on consecutive days. The beach is clean and beautiful. The view of Lake Michigan and the lighthouses is awesome. As a bonus there is an ice cream shop and very fun restaurant located on the beach with lots of seating, outdoor activities and fantastic food (The Deck). A wonderful family beach!

We visited Pere Marquette on our first visit to Lake Michigan. It was AWESOME. There is plenty of parking and it's only $5 for the whole day. The sunset views are AMAZING. There are a few spots you can get food from, but with COVID, we opted to bring a cooler of snacks instead. The beach is a good size so you can still swim, sun bathe, and keep an eye on your car. The lake isn't too deep for little ones, plus no sharks, no salt, less worry! We were only in Michigan for four days, and we loved this spot so much we visited it daily!
The only improvement I can think of is to add a few more bathrooms. We only found two port-a-johns.

Great sunsets and beach frontage inside and outside the breakwater. Nice summer weekends will find lots of boats anchored and coming and going. It does cost to park now and it seems fuller than ever of cars

We visited this beach for the first time in July 2020. It was the perfect beach for the Covid period as it was very easy to social distance. It was far less crowded than any of the coast's southern beaches and was much cleaner. It was a shallow beach with waves and very little algae. We're so happy that we found this beach!
