We came here to see the sun set on a warm July evening and were not disappointed. The sun going into Lake Michigan created gorgeous colors. The walk to the lighthouse was newly redone in early 2020 and was safe, clean, and lined with big rocks to protect you from the waves. We were able to take great pictures of the setting sun. On the beach, the bathrooms were clean and private, a perfect place to relieve yourself during COVID-19.

A wide and beautiful beach with lots of room to spread out and enjoy some time on lake Michigan. Lots to see and do- 2 lighthouses, 2 piers, volleyball courts, walking paths, on site restrooms, an on site eatery. Lot's of parking, $5 per day per car. We really enjoyed coming here and found it quite easy to keep our distance from just about everyone! There are many places in this park to come and enjoy watching the sunset.

This was one of the most awesome beaches I have ever been to. The waves were small and crashing on the rocks, people were swimming and surfing. The waverunners stayed far enough out to not scare anyone, and the sunset over the pier was wonderful.

We visited the beach on consecutive days. The beach is clean and beautiful. The view of Lake Michigan and the lighthouses is awesome. As a bonus there is an ice cream shop and very fun restaurant located on the beach with lots of seating, outdoor activities and fantastic food (The Deck). A wonderful family beach!

We visited Pere Marquette on our first visit to Lake Michigan. It was AWESOME. There is plenty of parking and it's only $5 for the whole day. The sunset views are AMAZING. There are a few spots you can get food from, but with COVID, we opted to bring a cooler of snacks instead. The beach is a good size so you can still swim, sun bathe, and keep an eye on your car. The lake isn't too deep for little ones, plus no sharks, no salt, less worry! We were only in Michigan for four days, and we loved this spot so much we visited it daily!
The only improvement I can think of is to add a few more bathrooms. We only found two port-a-johns.

Great sunsets and beach frontage inside and outside the breakwater. Nice summer weekends will find lots of boats anchored and coming and going. It does cost to park now and it seems fuller than ever of cars

We visited this beach for the first time in July 2020. It was the perfect beach for the Covid period as it was very easy to social distance. It was far less crowded than any of the coast's southern beaches and was much cleaner. It was a shallow beach with waves and very little algae. We're so happy that we found this beach!

We arrived late around 7pm to avoid the heat. The volley ball was still packed so was the restaurant. Not so much social distancing there.
The beach was not crowded, but enough people spreading out still. Easy to maintain distance.
It's a beautiful beach with soft sand. Quite clean.

Fantastic for views of sunsets, with pier and lighthouse in backdrop. Went on a weekday and was plenty of room; got a picnic table and ate a light dinner while watching the sun set. Spectacular!
Multiple viewings points from beach as well as pier.
Pier is SUPER WIDE, and it’s an easy and very safe walk out to the light at the end. Can even bike all the way out.
Sunsets with this backdrop are amazing!
Parking is $5 and wasn’t limited during the weekday. Well worth it!

Went here with my daughters to watch the sunset. Since it was out of season, the beach was empty, not many people around. Very nice beach, I imagine this is a very popular spot in the summer! The walkway out to the lighthouse is great, nice and wide...it's a good long walk. Beautiful place to watch the sunset for sure!! We were here in early October, the colors were beautiful.

What is the parking fee?
I believe it was $5. You pay at a freestanding kiosk after you park.

I see from an answer to the question about dogs, back in 2016, that dogs were allowed on south of the Curve, south of the filtration plant. Is that still the case?

I think so. We had people beside us with a dog tied to their tent.
Can you fish off the beach?

No but you can fish off the channel wall between Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan.

Are there showers at the beach

As the previous person said there are foot showers, but there are also outside showers by the feet ones, as in stand-up showers.
Is there a fee to use the beach?

No fee. If you have a dog there is a dog beach just south of Peer Marquette. If you stay on Beach street going south it starts right where the road curves going back into the residential area. If there is no parking there, continue to follow Beach street to Sherman Blvd. Take a right and to the left is Norm Kruse Park. The parking lot on the left is for the Dog Beach also!
