The village is rather nice with pretty Alscian houses but our AirBnB stay was greatly disturbed by the incivility of the inhabitants of the historic center.
A lady has fun every day releasing her big dogs into the city so that they go to do their need in front of the houses. Without picking them up, of course.
His children scream all day in the street, taking the alleys for their exclusive playground from 7am, despite the traffic of complicated cars because the streets are two-way with cars parked any way and it is not possible to go to 2 cars at the same time.
It's like they want them crushed!
Really disappointed with these uncivil and disrespectful behaviors that ruined our rest in this pretty city.

There is free parking at the railway station very close to the entrance. It has fewer special buildings than other towns in the area. It is worth walking through its Grand'rue but especially the town hall square with the church behind it. Also pass through Place Turenne and enter through the French Gate, the most beautiful in the city. Walk to the Brand Gate. Visit the World War II Battle Memorial Museum. During our stay we coincided with a very interesting craft fair.

Wow, our first stop at a village in the Alsace region set the bar very high. Absolutely magic.
There is a parking area outside the village so you get to walk in through the presumably original entrance. Immediately struck by colourful old buildings, cobbled streets and flowers.
We were Colmar bound, but this area is definitely on my bucket list to come back and explore wine region. I will be back. My advice to anyone visiting this area, is to make a central base and enjoy the villages and vineyard. I don't think it would be difficult to spend a week in the area.

"Han sori zu Fir und Liacht" (Take care of the fire and candle) sings the night watchman as he makes his rounds of Turckheim beginning every evening, May 1-October 1. In the 18th century, a watchman patrolled Turckheim at night to watch for fires. The night watchmen were paid by the guilds, and the position was abolished when the guilds were abolished in 1791. Citizens organized the nightly fire patrols until 1795 when the night watchman was restored. Despite the advent of electricity, night watchmen functioned in Turckheim until 1939. The position was revived by volunteers in 1953, and today three men take turns recreating the rounds of the night watchman during the tourist season. Meet him nightly at the Corps du Garde (office of Tourism) at 10 pm. He wears traditional clothing, a black cloak and tricorn hat, and carries a halberd, a horn and a lantern. You, and about 40 other people, will follow him through the village and listen to him sing in Alsatian at every stop, of which there are many.
"HORRICHA WAS ICH EICH WEL SAJA,
DIE GLOCK HET ZEHNI GSCHLAJA,
HAN SORI ZU FIR UND LIACHT,
DASS UNS GOTT UN MARIA B'HIET,
JETZT STAND ICH AUF D'R WACHT,
GOTT BEBT UNS ALLE'S GUETI NACHT"
Translation:
"LISTEN TO WHAT I WANT TO SAY,
THE BELL HAS JUST RUNG 10 O'CLOCK,
TAKE CARE OF THE HEARTH AND CANDLE,
GOD AND THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY PROTECT US,
HERE I AM ON GUARD,
GOD GIVES US ALL A SAFE NIGHT"
The remainder of the tour was in French, and I cannot comment about it since I do not speak French. However, the children in our group didn't care because each of them had their turn carrying his lantern and walking right beside him. He certainly entertained the French speakers that night as he described the many problems with open flames in houses. I feel certain that he gave a lot of interesting information about the night watchman's job in the 18th century. He was a wonderful example of "living" history. The tour lasts about an hour. By the way, Alsatian is a very old form of the German language that predates Hochdeutsch, and, "NO", it is NOT a mixture of French and German.

A wonderful small village that -- if you are driving -- you can drive right into the old town through the tower entrance and find parking in several places. At times during the year (autumn is best) they have more flowers per square meter than most any other town in Alsace! Several good restaurants serving Alsatian specialties also await you. Turckheim, one of those towns where the ancient walls have been preserved, should not be missed if you travel anywhere nearby.

Turckheim isn't as well publicised as many of the other Alsatian towns, but that is a real pity as it is well worth visiting. It retains most of its original town walls with all three medieval gates still intact and looking very impressive. The streets feature many timbered houses painted in lively colours and it is a compact town which can be walked easily. On summer nights the town watchman does his rounds singing at various points along his route as well as providing information about his role (in French). Just outside the walls is the Cave de Turckheim where the excellent local wines can be tasted and bought. There is a military museum relating the battles of the pocket of Colmar near the end of WW2. Though there are cafes and a Tourist Information Office, it is not as touristy as other towns which are more geared up to tourist shopping. We stayed in a very good gite within the town walls at a very reasonable rate.Turckheim is attractively authentic and not a tourist trap.

Turckheim has been one of my favorite place on my trip to alsace in winter. The city is small but very active , scenic and intimate, lovely english speaker people and a city center that is FABOULOS, especially during the christmas period. The mint tea in a local cafe was delicious. I look forward to be back there soon.

Wonderful holiday atmosphere in a Christmas market that meanders throughout the old town. Best gluhwein of the 14 markets we visited! Like almost all European Christmas markets, closes at 8;00 PM.

Walled Old Town, pretty old neighborhood, a few good restaurants. Drop into the Tourist Office and grab a map, then going take the walking tour starting at the Tourist Office. It ends at the restaurant area. Very nice walk, less than an hour. Restaurants close from 2-7, careful!

Come sono i mercatini di Natale in questo paesino? Consigliate la visita o meglio dedicare piĂą tempo sirettamente ad Eguisheim e Colmar? Grazie!

Hello, I would like to visit Turckheim, Kayserberg, Riquiwihr, Equisheim, and other small towns. I would like advice on if it is best to have the lodging in a larger town and then travel to the smaller towns, or just stay in one of the smaller towns. Thank you.

Hi , if you want the charm of a small town you have to be there for 2-3 days , stay on a small hotel , visit the local restaurants, walk a lot and no shopping .
we travelled with 3 chihuahua and found TĂĽrckheim and hostelerie Des Deux Clefs very nice.
we took a trip for 2 weeks and visited Hildesheim, Turckheim,
Carry-Le-Rouet ( near Marseille), Taissy at Reims and Hanstedt at Hamburg . very good service and nice local food .
