This is a moderately large undercover market that is located across the road from the Cathedral. There are a large number of fruit and vegetable vendors, as well as other vendors of household goods and clothes. There is a food court area as well, with a number of stalls serving local food.

The market is not that big but with some of good local products. I don’t mean special or unique products, just some vegetables and fruits from local, but you may not seen in elsewhere.

Though this market is not huge it proved to be very interesting for us. It is very clean (as is all of Leon) and has a number of vendors selling mostly vegetables and fruit. We saw some items which we didn't recognize, which turned out to be papayas (they were easily 60 or 70 centimeters tall - over 2 feet tall!). We also saw avocados which were over one foot tall! Very strange, but very interesting.

I visited this market after visiting the Iglesia de la Calvario. Things are organized here. Vendors selling footware are at the periphery of this market. Those selling fruits, vegetables and juices are inside.
I noted also the public bathroom inside this church.Bought some bananas and lychees at this market. Compared to the public market in Granada, this one is clean, organized and not crowded at all.
I will definitely shop here again!

Really enjoyed the Mercado Central. One of the cleanest and best organized city markets we have ever been to! Highly recommend to visit and shop at. Fruits, vegetables, food, and household items. Not really a place for crafts. We went several times. Great place to pick up items if you are cooking for yourself.

Located directly opposite the cathedral of Leon this is a locals market that largely focuses on selling fruits, meats and vegetables. There isn’t really any trinkets here or souvenirs. A lot of it is undercover but some of it spills out onto the streets. There are some street food vendors. Its nothing special but obviously free to enter and you can spend as much time here as you want.

Busy, Colourful and full of life. The items sold are not that special. But the experience is worth visiting.
