This hike is absolutely peaceful and beautiful. It is approximately 3 miles round trip. The dirt road to the trailhead started out okay and then was little on the rough side. Do not take a camper on this road. Parking lot was full at 9:30 on a week day in September. Cars were parked along side the dirt road which left very little room for outgoing and incoming vehicles. Plan on a early start to avoid the rush for parking.

Getting here was a challenge. Rough road was an understatement. Once we arrived and got our bearings it was wonderful. You can walk to Chapel Falls and walk back and then walk to Mosquito Falls taking a small loop across the river and back to the parking area. Best hiking was the 11.86 miles we walked from Chapel Falls then along part of th north country trail system to Mosquito Falls. Some of the most breathtaking views seen. We had seen people walking this from our boat tour and knew it was for us. Took us about 5.5 hrs to walk it.

Best thing about these Falls in Spring...lots of water making for a great display! The hike in was nice....it has a hard packed and wide trail which must be for wheelchairs. Beyond that is the more typical Pictured Rocks trails....narrow, rocky and in many places extremely muddy as it is Spring. The Falls are worth the walk which is a 1.3 mile stretch, with stairs and platforms which enable you to view the Falls. There is NOT a way down to the bottom of the Falls as far as we could tell. Be sure to pack in bug spray...after all this IS the woods of the UP!

We stayed in Munising on the east end of town. It is a good 45 minute drive to the falls. You are on the highway for half the trip and on gravel roads for half. The gravel road was in good shape except for a half mile section in the middle. Literally had to crawl at about 4 miles an hour in this section.
So this trip takes up a minimum of 2-3 hours.
The falls are beautiful but if you have limited time you can see 5 other waterfalls in the time it took to see this one.
The walk through the woods was beautiful with tons of small wildflowers in bloom. Lots of yellow and white wood violets, Marsh Marigold and forget me nots.

Average falls, but nice hike. We continued on and saw Chapel Rock and the beach. You should do this if hiking.

We love to hike and this one was our favorite and definite longest, if you do the 10 mile Chapel Loop including Chapel Rock/Falls/Beach and Mosquito Falls/Beach. Over half of the hike is following the coastline where the waves were literally thundering the rocks below and beside us. We had crazy high winds (40-50 mph?) the day we went and were concerned with the cancellation our sunset cruise the next night, but it ended up being a beautiful evening with 4 mph winds so you never know. After the hike, I could accept if the cruise had gotten cancelled because we were above and alongside most of the rocks they point out from the water. Chapel Rock was so much better from land, where you are right next to it) than from water. So if you're at all up for at least the 6 mi hike (to Chapel Rock and Beach) go to the visitor's center or online to get the map, be prepared with a rain or hooded jacket and enjoy this beautiful cliff side!

We spent a couple days going around to the different falls. All are so beautiful! It was great to see the natural beauty God created.

Don't let the hike in put you off. It's only about 2k and worth every step. One of the nicer ones we saw on our U.P. waterfall discover adventure.

Really a beautiful places it was a bit of a hike for me since I had knee replacement surgery recently but my daughter kept me going. It was definitely worth the hike.

The walk back is about 2 miles. The trail is nicely groomed, but was too much for our young children. This is probably one of the prettiest falls in the UP, though!
