Triple Creek Kennels has dog sled rides but here is more to it than that. Bob and his son Matt Johnson live this life everyday but for twelve women it was a wonderful adventure. When you call to make a reservation don't give up when you get the phone answerer. Bob will call you back in a day or maybe two or three..... they are off the grid and perhaps maybe Bear hunting with clients. Be patient. When they do call you back it is cash only so be prepared to send a check for the deposit. When we arrived Matt Johnson greeted us with the news that his snowmobile had broken that morning so we could only take five at a time as he would have to ride on one of the sleds. He was gracious enough to let us do a third trip that day so that none of the ladies would have to forgo the adventure. He lives on the property in a trailer that runs on propane. If you have to go to the bathroom bring your own TP as it is either a bucket in the shed or outside. We chose the later and considered it part of the adventure. The dogs were just a howling and ready to go. We had to split into two groups as there are three sleds. One person sits - the other rides and then you switch halfway through. there are six or five dogs on each sled. The dogs all have different personalities and we fell in love with a few of them. The dogs quickly become quiet as they start out on the road to get to the path. This is where they are the fastest so pay close attention on the footwork needed to keep them a bit slower. Once on the trail they are considerably slower and at time we wanted a faster ride. We all decided not having the snowmobile was a blessing as the ride was so peaceful and beautiful through the winter wonderland. Matt was in the lead and at times he would stop to let the other dog sleds catch up. Our favorite dog Elvis was the lead dog behind us. The ladies behind us stopped a little too close and Elvis took the opportunity to jump in my partners lap while she sat in the sled. We couldn't decide if you wanted to be pet or was just tired but it was pretty funny. Matt laughed too while scolding him to get off her. While I would have liked a faster ride on the trail I think this was a great experience. Highly recommend Matt and Bob - they were absolutely the best! We also snow showed when we were done while waiting for the next group to get done. We did a little tail gating too.
