This beach is great. We went later at night around 7/8 and there was really nobody there. The beach was very nice and the sand very soft. The sunset at this beach was great and the water was cold but very easy to swim with younger kids

It is not just a beach. Go past the first parking lot till you can’t go anywhere. I was told there was a waterfall but didn’t find them. But if you cut threw the woods you get to see a beach with some driftwood. Then drive up a little far and there is a maritime display. It is about coast guard n their boats. Found it interesting.

We visited this beach early in the morning when no one was there-- the beach was pristine and the water was ice cold, but crystal clear. Great photo opportunities. We came back in the afternoon to lay on the beach and it was definitely more crowded. The sand is fine-grit and easy to walk on. There was a sandbar you could swim to and wade in the water. It was one of the most beautiful beaches I've seen. We had great weather, too, which was a plus! Definitely recommend!

The ice curtains aren't exactly at Sand Point beach but that is where you have to park in order to access them. From the first parking lot you have to walk back down the road a half mile or so until you start seeing trails into the woods and signs for the various named curtains. The hills are a bit steep but the payoff is well worth it. 2 out of the 3 "curtains" that we visited had ice climbers which was really cool to watch. We really lived the adventure of this and will definitely visit again!

This is an easy beach to get to, and in mid-September we had it all to ourselves during most of our visit. I added some pictures with the sandbar, because some of the other pictures loaded did not contain it - the forces of water I guess. We just hung out for awhile in between visiting other locations, but it was a nice break and provided some great views of nature. The beach is dog friendly.

We stumbled on this beach by accident when we were driving around but it was such a clean beach and a beautiful spot with a view of the Grand Island light house. Not sure if there is more parking anywhere close by or not. it seemed there was limited parking on the street.

This beach is protected from the wind by the island and is very beautiful. There is an area that has pink sand, there is also an area where there is a small boat wreck that is still there from years ago. A park ranger told us that this is the only beach, in the area, that never has a riptide because the island protects it.

This is a beautiful, clean beach with very light crowds during both of our recent visits. Sunset on the beach is a must!

So you take in the waterfalls and head out to this beach. Sunset is beautiful and stroll on the beach was so peaceful.
I was surprised on how much "ocean like" this was. We visited in October which meant it was too cold to swim or play in the water. You can keep going down this road by the beach to head to more falls and viewpoints and light house. We instead opted to stay in for more than an hour before retiring to our hotel room.
Lake superior is truly a beast so large, so peaceful and deepest of all the great lakes. How did I miss the "pink sand" that so many others are marveling it. Pls don't miss it like we did. Unless I was too busy looking at Sunset, currents .

Greetings from sunny (and warm) Florida. I saw that you spent 10 days in the area. We're thinking of taking a little "roadie" up that way. Is 10 days enough time to see it all? Could you suggest the top places that you saw. I love waterfalls and lighthouses and can't get enough of either. Thanking you in advance for any info you can provide.

Actually, I live here and I still haven't seen it all. My husband and I always say we could take a weekend trip to a different destination in the UP and never run out of things to see.

Are their picnic tables or a playground at Sand Point Beach? Spending the morning there before the pictured rock cruise and have little kids to entertain and feed. Thanks!
