The rocks were awesome and the experience was memorable. They provide life vests and spray skirts. They have safety as a number one priority. The swells were larger than I expected and the guide seemed more interested in his own experience than ours. It was hard paddling to keep up and so by the time we got to join the group, they were off and paddling to the next area. It was exhausting and hard to enjoy the view when we were just trying to keep up. Two hours of paddling made us feel like jello when we came back to the boat. The staff tried to help us up but my husbands legs gave out and he sat down on the grate just as a wave hit and he was soaked from the waist down. With only two bathrooms on the boat and 50 people needing the restroom he changed quickly so as not to be cold for the one hour boat ride back. The boat was full with very few masks and I came down with a sore throat and upper respiratory infection 2 days later.

Great tour! I've taken a tour where we've kayaked both out along the shore and back in - that was great also. But, also liked this tour with the boat drop off in the lake this time. Our originally scheduled date/time was cancelled due to weather and company was wiling to adjust our booking to a date that worked for our schedule. We were lucky to get out on the water Saturday, Sept 18 instead and the waters had finally calmed down. It was low 70's and clear skies. Light breeze. I was comfortable in a tank top only - some others had light weight long sleeve. Only need water in the kayak. You may want to take snack and towel/warmer clothes for the boat ride back. Pictures are allowed on boat - best to do this on the way out. There is a platform at the back of the boat to start from and enter/exit the kayak. Generally very easy, older riders may need assistance from guides to get in and out of kayak - but they are right there and help everyone. We had Bailey for our tour guide. Very enjoyable to talk with and hear her experiences and ambitions. There is one guide to about 6-8 kayaks. Each kayak is a double.

The trip started with mechanical issues once we got to the launch point which held us up about 90 minutes, but the owner of the company came out with a mechanic and another boat and made it happen! She got us out on the water safely. Kudos to the crew as well. Ian our guide was knowledgeable and full of excitement for his job. The rocks are amazing. The tandem kayak was easy to navigate. The skirting does help keep you drier but you will get wet so bring extra clothes to change into. Overall excellent experience even with the delay. If you are in the area for several days book your trip early in your stay in case your trip gets delayed as ours did for weather reasons.

This was the highlight of our trip to the UP. We were up close to the cliffs and saw and experienced way more than if we had been on a big boat. We even paddled into caves! Even though we are experienced kayakers there were several people on our trip that had never been in one. They had no problems. The boats are extremely steady and the guides are amazing at reading your ability and helping when needed. The guides were excellent. Highly recommend this trip.
