What an experience! This crew and operation is so knowledgeable. They provide the tour, the instruction, the safety, the kayaks and everything needed for a complete 'turn key' adventure. Don't miss this opportunity to see the Pictured Rocks. Their escort boats are second to none, a true innovation in kayaking!

Truly amazing experience! The only way I would want to see Picture Rocks! Words cannot describe the beauty of this shoreline that can only be appreciated from the water. This kayaking trip allowed us to get up close, often touching the rocks, paddling into caves or through arches. The two plus hours of paddling flew by.
This company is top notch. Staff is very professional and safety oriented. They are super efficient in getting you in a kayak and in the water so you can enjoy as much time as possible paddling. The guide James was very informative and clearly loved every minute of his job.
I would do this again in a minute.

This trip was unbelievable! It had been on my bucket list for a few years, and im so glad to say I've checked it off. The crew was very helpful and friendly, but the scenery was AMAZING!!!! An art museum wouldn't have been as beautiful as the patterns in the rocks were! Can't say enough good about it!

This experience was amazing!!!
What a class act, from start to finish. The safety talk, paddling tips, explanation of how the crew would keep us safe, and the guides themselves were excellent!
The close up views, information given on the trip, freedom for kayaks to go closer or farther from the rocks, ways the guides promoted group cohesiveness, and the way the crew worked together to get equipment on and out of the water was so impressive!
Our guide was Jim and he had experience in Outdoor Education for 15 years. It was evident that he loved nature and he promoted the act of stewardship, kindness, and the love of nature to all he encountered.

My spouse and I did the Miner's Castle Tour, only because we waited too long and the longer tour was already sold out when we tried to book online. Next time! (I should also say their website & book process is pretty straightforward and uncomplicated.
This new physical facility has ample parking and the check in process is painless. After our guides and captain introduced themselves to the group they had a safety briefing and orientation. We then boarded a boat and were taken out to where our paddling tour would begin. On the way to that spot one of the crew had come through and assigned everyone numbers, basically dividing up the passengers into smaller groups. This was great, because now you were paddling in a smaller group with your own guide paddling right along side. Our guide was Devon. He was nothing short of excellent the entire paddle.
The crew helped launch each kayak at the beginning of the paddle. Our small group then made it's way down the shoreline to take in the beauty that you can only see from the water. Devon shared information with the group as we slowly paddled toward Miner's Castle. This was a 'no hurry' journey. We took our time and enjoyed it. Once we would up and Miner's Castle, and had a chance to see inside, close by was our boat, which we paddled over to and, with the assistance of onboard crew, disembarked from our kayaks for the journey back to shore.
A couple of things. First, if you've never kayaked before, don't worry about it. This is not a speed race down the shoreline. You are in a small group of tandem kayaks with a guide who is trained in how to help if things go wrong. AND, there's the boat not too far away if they need to call it in and have you picked up sooner than the end. Which leads me to my second point. Everything about them is top tier professional. It's about safety. Using new/newer well maintained equipment gives an impression of confidence. They know what they're doing, they want you to have fun.
We will be back, and for certain will sign up early enough for the longer tour with them.

Everything about this tour was amazing. My husband and I have done many adventure tours together and this is for sure one of the best. Every person we came in contact with was very nice and friendly and full of information. Our tour guide was Ryan- and he was truly great! You could tell he has a passion for the history of the area and the great outdoors. This is for sure a must do- and don’t even think of using a different tour company! Being able to actually launch off the boat and paddle a full 5 miles of cliffs was wonderful!!

The winds were brutal the day before our trip and day of making it unsafe for both boats and kayaks so we received a cancellation text notice. It was convenient to reschedule or we were offered full refund at that time. Since we had an extra weather day we gave it a go on our last day in Munising and thankfully the boat could go out and we did some kayaking along Pictured Rocks which is what we came for. The equipment, boat, facility, staff were all terrific; special shout out to Deidre for customer service and to Colleen our guide for being so friendly and taking some pics on the water for us. We felt safe as the entire crew surveyed the coastline and decided which points of interest we could safely do and myself and 3 teenage girls had good time seeing the sights from the kayak and water. You can take another company for just a boat cruise or just kayak from shore but you cannot do both so we chose this company. Nice scenic time and experience.

What a beautiful and fun way to experience Pictured Rocks! A great family experience for us! We felt safe and got to see the amazing rock formations and colors from close up. The 2 man kayaks were not difficult to paddle and we are both over 65. Our guide Jackson was with us the entire time, pointing out the names of formations and other interesting details about the area. I want to do this every year!!

What a fun way to see Pictured Rocks! I was a bit nervous about the experience, but our guide, Kai, helped me to get comfortable and relax. Kai was knowledgeable about the rock formations and took our photo at Lover’s Leap.
Our Captain on the boat, was knowledgeable and concerned about everyone’s safety. He is actively mentoring the young crew.
Highly recommend this company!

We have tickets for next week but the weather looks sketchy, with scattered rain and thunderstorms . Bummer! I know you will offer an alternate trip (does this mean the same trip on a different day or a completely different excursion) in case of inclement weather. If it is cloudy and in the 60's, what clothing would you recommend? Our initial plans were for warm weather, clothing-wise.

GM here. Weather changes daily here and what it says for the next week can be totally different the day of. If it is raining but the wind is down we will still go to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. If the wind is not in our favor we will offer an alternate trip the day of. I cannot guarantee availability for a different date as we are booked well in advance at this time. Be prepared with clothing because you can always change in the boat. Let’s hope for the best!

Two questions...
Background-- my husband and I are in our early 50's and have kayaked but mainly on places with no chop. He's more athletic than me. Neither of us are great swimmers. Some reviews talk about people capsizing, some say it's no problem.
1. Does capsizing happen a lot and do you think we would be able to successfully and safely participate on this trip?
2. Last year I read that rocks fell from the shore and nearly missed some kayakers that were exploring the caves. Is that a really rare occurence?
Thanks for any help or advice you can give me.

My husband and I are 70 and 60. We do kayak for fishing, so these were very different kayaks. You sit down into them. We felt very secure navigating in the swells that came from a boat going by. Plus, your with a small group of about 6 kayaks and your guide, so everyones together. There were kids too. Encourage you to go for it!

1348 commercial street in Munising Mi, look for the bright yellow roof! We gather there and then walk to the boat.

As a health care worker I am very concerned with COVID policies. Are your customers required to wear masks when they are being transported and not able to distance themselves 6 ft. Some people are not willing to do the right thing for others and if this is not required I need to be made aware for I will not be able to take this trip.
Deidre P

Hi Sandy - employees are wearing masks but we do not require guests to. You are on a boat sitting with others and we have reduced our capacity to help with distancing. However, as you stated not everyone is practicing the distancing or mask wearing. If you are concerned about this, please be aware you are on a boat in a closed space with open windows for a ride to and from the rocks. We appreciate the questions but leave the final decision to you. We disinfect the boat before, after and in the middle of the adventure once you are in a kayak.

Is this kayak trip good for beginners and for a family with 13 yr olds?

YES! We recommend the stronger paddler in the back of the tandem. We have had kids who make the parents do all the work ;)

Where is the ending location of the tours? Do you do a round trip to a location and then turn around and come back or is the starting location different than the ending location?

Depending on the wind. A normal trip will start at cave of all colors. You will paddle one way up the shoreline and get picked up at Chapel Rock. We will always paddle with the wind at our back. Sometimes we will start at Chapel Rock and end at cave of all colors.

No, you dont need it
Can u do this on ur own or do you have to take a tour

You can do on your own- however keep in mind it would be 15-20 miles roundtrip, and based on wind could be longer in one direction. Tours take you out there and drop you at the start and you still doing several miles.
