In a city of brick and tile, the wooden interior of the Friday mosque is lovely. You can wander around the pillars as if it were a maze. I would have likes to have stayed a little longer; no that there is anything fantastic to...More

This is one of largest mosque in Khiva with many columns. Better to take a guided tour so you know the history and what to look. In Khiva, everywhere you go, there are always souvenir shops, this one is no exception. 30 minutes inside maximum...More

A calming place with its carved wooden pillars. A small courtyard open to the sky has shafts of sunlight pouring down which brightens the leaves of the shrubs growing there. A must-see building.

This mosque is very interesting as it doesn't have any domes, portals or cupolas. Its one main hall. Very interesting is how the room is supported by over 200 small wooden pillars. Most are intricately carved, its really a forest of pillars inside.

It's an old-time layout with a rectangular floor and some 250 wooden pillars that support the roof. These pillars are very old, some date back to the 10th century, although the mosque was only build in the 17th century
