The hosts of the guest house Nurling Kyanjin Gompa were incredibly friendly and accommodating, the owner was kind enough to lend a lightweight sweater, gaiters, and even a pair of shades. Their rooms are clean and have views of the mountains from the third floor and living room on the top floor as well as roof top access.
They are great cooks and the owner of the hotel speaks english well. The hotel has been recognized as a refuge for trekkers, and there are opportunities to hike and explore the breathtaking landscapes Kyanjin Gompa has to offer.
It was a pleasure being able to share their dwelling, with nightly communal fire, dinner, and having the opportunity to help them clear snow off their roof in the dead of winter!
I love the simple lifestyle and community shared here and would love to return!
The only regret was going back to Kathmandu a few days too early.

Well worth the walk in, but be prepared for cold nights. Take sufficient cash, rumours of an ATM are overrated, it's broken.
I recommend the small Evening View lodge, next to Buddha hotel. So cozy and friendly and if you eat there, hot showers included.

I went there in May 2016, one year after the devasting earthquake. I was pretty sad to see devasted Langtang Villages. however, other things in the trek were fantastic. Kanjin Gompa wasn't affected by the earthquake. There are few hotels that are repairing the damages, Don't forget to go to a cheese factory and bakery cafe.
Tips: Instead of Langtang, you can spend the night at Mundu. It is a small settlement, 30 minutes walk from the Langtang Villages.

It was beautiful. Was nice seeing yaks everywhere. Cheese factory was yummy and cheap.
A bit too much construction work with buildings being built right on top of each other.
Prices are a quite a rip off even taking into account porter transportation costs.
No wifi.
No double beds in accommodation. Hot water rarely worked. Toilets were shared. (Surprisingly basic facilities for such a huge number of hotels and tourism industry flooding in each season)

Hello,
Me and some friends recently trekked LangTang Valley in Nepal, we used Advanced Adventures Pvt Ltd, based out of Kathmandu. We have an excellent time, AA was very detailed, we worked directly with Mr Chet Batta, whom I believe is one of the owners and took great care of us. We landed in Kathmandu two days before we started our trek to acclimatise and explore the city. Unfortunately due to a mishap on our part our luggage was delayed in China (GuangZhou), Mr Chet was great help in calling the airline/airport in GuangZhou, locating our luggage and making sure we weren't delayed in our trip. We hired a guide through AA and explored Kathmandu, there are quite a bit of things to see, a number of Hindu/Buddhist temples and Stupa's to explore as well as just exploring the local culture itself, which is quite different from where we are from in the states. Our Trek itself was 7 days, we took a van out to Syrapureshi and started our trek to Kanji Gumba from there. I would describe difficulty of the trek as moderate. We stayed at teahouses along the way. One note, almost all the food on trek was vegetarian so if you are big meat eater I would suggest bringing some beef jerky or something to supplement your diet. We had blast on the trek, our guides Deel and Purna took great care to make sure all of our needs were met. It wasn't without some of the typical expected difficulties; I dont think I will ever get use to squat toilets LOL, and hot water for bathing was a luxury and often served in a bucket but what do you expect when your trekking? We almost made it to the top of Chakri but we were met with unexpected snow at just under 16,000 feet and forced to turn back because the footing became very slippery and unstable. All in all we had a lot of fun; we recently hiked Choquierao in Peru last year and as awesome as that was I think I had more fun in Nepal.

The Langtang Trek is spectacular. We spent 12 days trekking through Langtang to the top of the Ganja La and then over the other side through Helambu. It was a real challenge and something that we will never forget. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a challenge, has trekking experience and is fit.

Great hiking up through the Langtang Valley. The Scenery is fantastic with some spectacular Mountain
views. The locals are gracious hosts always making us welcome and providing us with much appreciated meals and warmth. Would definitely recommend hiking this trek.

This is perhaps the highlight of the Langtang trek that we took. We were a group aged 12 to 53 years old.
We stayed in a lodge between the Tibet Hotel and the Panorama Hotel. It was so new it had yet had a sign board. The lodge, set at the foot of Kyanjin Ri, was the best we had along the trek - interms of facility (with sitting toilets and rooms not as cold as others) and hosts (Choenyi and father were excellent).
It was so good that we decided to stay an extra night. Would have loved to stay a couple more nights. Choenyi guided us as we climbed up Kyanjin Ri, and took us on an easier route down the mountain (less torturing for the knees). Choenyi speaks excellent English. She taught us how to make mo mo and provided us much insight into the life and history of the Tibetan people in the region. It was lovely to be able to participate in their daily life including collecting Yak dung for fuelling the stove 😁.
We highly recommend this lodge, which feels like a homestay. Picture of the lodge attached.

There is a short hike to a viewpoint in the side valley to the North.
Tsergo Ri is popular, but it is almost 5000 meter, very tough without full acclimatization.
You can also hike on the trail to Ganja La on the Southern side of the valley, nobody up there, where you reach excellent viewpoints up to a hilltop at 4300 meter.
Then you can continue in the rather flat main valley to Langisa, 3 hours 30 one way. The best is to continue further and climb to the Morimoto BC above the glacier, but that involves camping one night.
Many lodges in Kianjin close now for the winter but 3 or 4 will remain open, including the local atmosphere Moonlight.
The first snow, 5 cm, fell on December 26. Early morning temperature -6 C.

We are an independant group of 13 people who plan to trek Langtang / Gosunkainda April this year. Is there plenty of accomodation along the way without booking?
Written March 13, 2017
