As soon as we entered the Bhaktapur Durbar square at 1025 on 6th November 2018 , we saw an eighteen armed Ugra ( Angry ) Chandi and a twelve armed Ugra Bhairav flanked by two majestic sitting stone lions at the entrance of Shree Padma Higher Secondary School . Ugra Chandi and Ugra Bhairv were holding various weapons in their arms and wearing skulls necklaces . According to the legend , the sculptor first sculpted Ugra Chandi . King Bhupatindra Malla was so overwhelmed after seeing this aesthetically beautiful statue , that he became jealous thinking the sculptor may sculpt another such beautiful statue for another king , he cut right hand of the sculptor . But the sculptor did not give up and sculpted another highly impressive statue of Ugra bhairav with his left hand . The poor sculptor lost his left hand too . The folk lore was the sculptor picked up the gauntlet and sculpted third more beautiful and impressive statue with his feet . But unfortunately the statue was still not recovered .
