Many articles mention about the star shaped sand but I failed to check that it is a rocky beach. About 15min walk from the main town, it was abit out of the way but you will be able to find star-shaped sand in small quantities...More

Famous as one of a few beaches with star sand. We manged to find some, but note that these are 1-2mm sized star shaped grains of sand, nothing really fascinating. Would be a great spot of nature except for its overrun by tourist groups digging...More

Rocky beach. It is supposedly one of the two beaches in Japan where a bunch of star shaped shells wash on the beach for some mysterious reason. We couldn't find any such shells though neither did the dozens of other tourists kneeling around looking for...More

To many rocks and and sharp stones and also small and crowded so nothing to spend much time on because other alternatives are much better just nearby

The beach itself isn't great for swimming (shallow/rocky) but it is very beautiful and wonderful for finding little natural treasures. There are tons of little hermit (?) crabs around if you look close. If you are on Taketomi island, you will stop here.

Kaiji beach is a great place to search for 'star sand'. Star sand isn't actually sand at all, it is formed from the remains of tiny star-shaped crustations which barely exceed a millimeter in diameter. Collecting the sand is a painstaking task but if you...More

Well from reading other reviews am sure you have great expectations with the sand. This is actually a low point but the stars are somewhere else. If you have kids it can ge very shallow at low tide. Then have not seen any jellyfish even...More

Not good for swimming as there are plenty of shallow places with sharp stones in the water. View is nothing special as well. Stars are there, checked, if you can't find them, you are probably doing it wrong... There are maybe 1 on 100 of...More
