Temples and Tastes of Tamil Nadu

This journey is dedicated to the Kingdom of Architectural Marvels. Spirituality is the key element here, that resulted in the thousands of Hindu temples formation in Tamil Nadu. Concurrently, all these temples are equally marvellous in Engineering. A special mention to Chettinad , the cuisine of Chettinad is uses a variety of freshly ground spices including cumin, fenugreek, fennel, clove, bay leaf, turmeric and tamarind. The cuisine is well known for the complexity of flavours. Also noteworthy are the heritage mansions of chettinadu which still draw a lot of tourists

One of the most important temple for Lord Murugan in Tamil Nadu. The temple is located in the outskirts of Kumbakonam. You need to climb quiet a few steps to reach this temple. It is easily about 50 feet from the road level. Be ready to climb the steps to have darshan of the deity. If elders are going to accompany you be ready to spare enough time for them to climb the stairs if they can. You get very nice prasadams in the counter there which you can purchase.

Have to climb 2 sets of stairs, but you have supporting structures to help the aged to climb. Temple was not crowded and got darshan immediately.

This Temple is situated on a small Hillock.. It has 60 steps to climb.. These 60 steps indicate the 60 Tamil years name.. This is the place where Lord Shiva for the explanation and the meaning of the mantra "OM".. Since Lord Muruga took the position of Guru, He is also called as "Thagappan swamy".. Don't miss this place..

This arupadai veedu of lord Murugan is a significant milestone and must see for visitors. Having said this, it was somewhat disappointing to see that the temple is not well maintained. It would be great if they took more care into the tidiness and appearance of the vicinity to make it more appealing to visitors.
