It is far away and I did not find the place nice. Went there as the cab driver who picked us up from airport recommended this place. Go there if you do not want crowd and have spare time to spend.

Off the beaten path

This is a more off the beaten path, but nevertheless beautiful attraction near Wuyishan. You will have to arrange a car to take you here. Best to book with an agency like Wuyishan China International Travel Service.

Commune with Mother Nature
Jun 2016 • Family
This canyon is about 21 km from the Wuyi Mountains entrance. This gorge meanders through two steep mountains and is filled with ancient trees, mountain peaks, wildlife and birds. Waterfalls cascade along clear rivers and streams. The waterfalls have been given poetic names. A great way to commune with Mother Nature, have a workout climbing the steps as well as enjoy the fresh air.

An Absolute MUST Visit !!!

The Longchuan Grand Canyon is a bit far from Wuyishan city. It took us 45-50 minutes drive to reach. We paid 100RMB per adult and another 100RMB for the 3 kids to enter the canyon. We were told that we would need 1.5 to 2 hours to climb along the canyon but we were all so excited that within 45 minutes, we climbed to 1000 stairs. The waterfalls are absolutely refreshing ! The place is very well organized and you can walk in the water on few places to almost touch the waterfalls. Take off your shoes and be ready to get a bit wet ! You'll have the most fun adventure in the whole Mount Wuyi area. After climbing, there are small buses waiting for you to bring you down where your taxi will be waiting. Before leaving, let the kids enjoy the mini zoo. One part is in a fake tunnel made of plastic and where you can see fake animals from this local jungle. The other part is with real animals, like monkeys etc...

Waterfall hikers, assemble!

Admittedly, Long Chuan Da Xia Gu (龙川大峡谷), literally "Dragon River Gorge", pales in comparison to other more well-known tourist attractions in Wu Yi Shan, for example Tian You Feng (天游峰), literally "Sky-Travel Peak", Wu Yi Shan's number one scenic wonder, and Yi Xian Tian (一线天), literally "A Slit in the Sky", a mountain crack for the adventurous to traverse.

That's not to say however that Long Chuan Da Xia Gu is a total letdown. Here, the air is fresh is ever, the steps are not as challenging a climb as, say, Da Wang Feng (大王峰), and the waterfalls featured aren't half-bad.

Scenic spots are aplenty; there's the tranquil Qian Ceng Pu (千层瀑), or "Thousand-Layer Waterfall", the gorgeous Guan Yin Pu (观音瀑), or "Guan Yin Waterfall", the more majestic Hong Yan Fei Pu (红岩飞瀑), or "Red Rock Waterfall" ...... Indeed, waterfalls are the pride of Long Chuan Da Xia Gu.

Having said all that, if your time in Wu Yi Shan is short or if you're on a tight budget, by all means, feel free to give this one a miss. If you decide however to allocate time to visit this gorge, do note that it won't take up too much of your time to cover the whole place; 2 hours should be more than enough.

As is the case with the majority of scenic areas in Wu Yi Shan, it is not possible to access Long Chuan Da Xi Gu via public transportation. Either pay for a shuttle bus ticket, or rely on private transportation.
